MIA since September back with a new apporach (Long-ish)

So I'm back. This time round I'm making small changes instead of trying to do it all at once. I've decided to master my new life style one step at a time and I'm giving myself a month for each new adjustment. For example: This month its no more eatting out at fastfood joints. My new rule is we can eat out twice a month (the days I do grocery shopping since that, here, is an all day occurance and stops at three stores and I don't feel like cooking by the time I get home) but it HAS to be a sit down resturant.

So yes, I've been MIA for awhile. I've lurked around the forum but haven't been active in the weight loss. As a result I'm up almost 10lbs. Here's what's been going on with me...

My son started school and it was not a smooth transition. After attending for a bit his teacher called me in and told meshe thinks he's autistic. So now we're going threw hoops trying to get him to a pyschologist and working with the school to get a behavior plan in place.
So at about this same time Igotmy daycare license. At first I couldn't find any families, and as of today, I am trying to find away to increase my allowed spots by one (come summer I'll be one child over). My own two children have been through about 15 ear infections, 2 cases of strep, 1 nasal infection and 5 colds since then as well. After a visit to a ear/throat/nose specialist we are now looking at one child who has to get tubes in his ears, his anoids and tonsils out and we'll find out later this month wether or not our baby girl has to get it done.
Then we found out that my husband's company (Halliburton) was decreasing his gauranteed hours from 54 (no overtime pay, just straight 54) down to 40. We would be losing about $1000 a month so we were getting ready to have to move. I was in pieces. What we were moving into was small and much older than where we were and I'd be losing daycare spots just based on square footage. The day before we were supposed to start moving my husband's "after" paychecks came and he's actually been making MORE *knock on wood* this way (the company now HAS to pay overtime on hours above 40 since they can't go around it with "gauranteed hours"). He called the landlord, cancelled our move and while I was thrilled I was left unpacking an entire house I just packed up. So now I've finally finished unpacking and trying to get my house cleaned back up.
So now that my life has quit spinning out of control and even the teetering back and forth is starting to calm down I'm back. I'm not here saying I'm going to do it all at once now, or that its ALL or nothing. I'm just here to start mastering small skills that are going to make me and my family healthierfor the long run :)
I've missed all of you oodles and huge congrats to those of you who have continued your great success!!

Oh, I've wondered where you'd got to! Welcome back!

Life has definitely thrown you one over the past few months. Congrats on coming back here :) Your new approach of one thing at a time definitely seems like the way to go in your situation at the moment.

Stick around and keep posting :)

Welcome back. It sounds like you have a manageable plan. It also sounds like you have had a rough 2009 but I am glad that your husband's job is working out. I hope that I can add a note of comfort about your son possibly having autism. My grandson is autistic and has made huge progress with treatment. Getting the diagnosis is tough in many ways but, if he is diagnosed, you can start getting him the help that he needs.

Hang in there!

Thanks everyone.

And thanks Cheryl. Without being able to do much without his official diagnosis it feels like I've just been spinning my wheels!!
