Default No New Years Resolution !

I've always felt like New Years Resolutions were like promises you made to break. So this year I'm not making one. I did make a plan to restart my healthy lifestyle just after Christmas.

Back in the fall I had finally made it to the 50lbs lost mark and from that moment on just maintaining that was difficult. Between personal problems and selfe doubt I was stressed to the max. In November I decided to stop trying alltogether untill after Christmas. It did take alot of stress out of my holiday which was nice. But I also waaaaaay too took advantage of that break. Althought I hadn't been loosing for months the efforts I was making was keeping me maintained at that 50lbs lost. (55 actually) But when I'm not making efforts to loose I GAIN! Big time. It's no wonder I was 278lbs.

I gained 10lbs in 2 months. That's 20% of my efforts(if my math is correct) down the drain. I guess the "oh crap what have I done?" moment was when I tryed on a pair of jeans I don't often wear that I bought in the summer and they were too tight to wear comfortably. They had been fine before.

So I am back AGAIN. 10lbs heavier and ever more determined. I want to loose 50lbs by this time next year. That may not seem like much to some but I think it is a realistic goal for me.

Oh, and I missed you guys!

Sometimes it is 2 steps forward, 1 step back----that's life....BUT you caught the slide before it became 2 steps foward 4 steps back1 We've seen a lot of those stories here. Congratulations, welcome back and good luck.

I made a New Year's resolution a few years back to never make another New Year's resolution--it's the only one I ever stuck with!

Think of it as a good lesson learned. I know too that if I'm not trying, I'm gaining. It's so easy to get, yet so hard to lose-hmm. Good luck--You'll be back on track in no time. Just a small blimp, no problem.

Mini-goal #2: 10% of body weight: 4/28/10 (Finally!)
Mini-goal #3: 211 lbs (my all-time adult low): 1/26/11

Welcome back, TraceyElaine! I also decided to give myself a break during December. I didn't really plan to stop counting AND stop exercising, but that's kind of what happened. I was maintaining just fine for a couple of weeks, and then one morning--BOOM--I was up 5 pounds. I didn't worry because I was sure it was sodium. I mean, nobody really gains 5 pounds over night, right?

Well, the 5 pounds has been here for a good week now so yes, apparently you CAN gain it overnight! LOL. Anyway, I'm back on the wagon as well. Lucky for us, we caught it early, right? And we know what to do, so we just have to start doing that again.

Short-Term Goal

One dancer for each 5 lbs lost!

I feel the same way about resolutions, I will not be making one! And as far as your gain, it could be a **** of a lot worse. I think it's pretty impressive that you only gained 10 lbs in 2 months. I decided to take off Christmas week, ONE LITTLE WEEK, just 7 days. How bad can it get? When I got home I got on the scale to see it up 12 pounds!!!!! The first 3 were water weight and dropped off within a day, and I've since shed 2 more by changing my eating. But man oh man do I need to hit that gym because I have 7 pounds to go! Really disappointing when I was sooooo close to 50 pounds lost.

You know I have always thought the same thing about New Years resolutions. I read a thread here about what people were going to use as their "motto" for 2010 and I see threads about Valentine's Day or even Mothers Day.

What I try to do is to live in today. I spent many years waiting until I lost weight...blah blah blah And I have spent many years saying...I'll do it tomorrow This one bite won't matter or my famous...Who cares and eat the horse.

This time of year is a good time for me to reflect and see what I could improve in...it is in the air so to speak...and the motto idea...it could be in my face on a daily basis (this said as positive)

Overall I am not a New Years Resolution person or a long term commitment person...I know the commitment thing is an issue...so u know what? I'll check into that FIRST THING 2010...how is that for a resolution

Love to all of you...I am VERY blessed to have found 3FC!

I have said this many times! I have been known to gain much more than 10 pounds so I think that you should stop worrying about the 10 pounds and just go forward. You weigh 40 less now than you did a year ago. I think that is great!

I likes this idea! lol....I don't know how many New Years resolutions I have broken over the years. What a waste of time!
