Question Need Suggestions - Back On Program & Feel Bad

Morning all
I'm back on my program after months of bingeing off & on. Sweets are my down fall and I'm facing the truth that I must give them up forever if I want to reach a normal weight.
I'm a total sugar addict.

Today is day #3 and I feel terrible.
Really bad.

I've had a headache everyday & zero energy.
My program is 1400 - 1600 calories per day with lots of water, veggies, protein, some dairy & really limited bread/carbs.

I've lost 9.8 pounds since Sunday - yes - this past Sunday - 2 or 3 days depending how you count.

That tells me my body is screwed up

I'm wondering if more protein will help me to feel better? Maybe sugar really is a poison & I'm detoxing?

Aspirin isn't helping with the headaches.
Any advice or insight is appreciated.
Thanks

I know that a lot of people have problems with sugar--I'm sure you'll get some good insight here on that (I don't really have to deal with that, luckily!) But I don't think that it's surprising to lose that much in the beginning--it's probably mostly water that flushing out of your system.

I'm sure that you are detoxing though, just wait it through, it will get better. You can probably up your calories too, if you feel hungry and tired. I'm about your weight, and if I eat 1800-1900, I lose a good amount.

Hey!

I don't know much about getting of sugar - but I had the similar feeling when I quit drinking coffee; intense headaches that would not go away with aspirin. It did however get better after a few days, and finally completely fine within 3 days.

So yes, it might be your body going through withdrawal! If I were you I'd give it another day or so and see if it went away, if not I'd call my doctor.

Feel better soon!

That sugar detox feeling happened to me too for like 2 weeks in the beginning. I know you are probably thinking, "two weeks!!! I don't want to feel like this for 2 weeks!!" but it IS soooooo worth it. I feel soo much better now. Go to bed early if you need to. Take it easy on yourself and body. Don't start an exercise regimine until you are detoxed.

If you are low carb make sure and drink more water than usual to keep up with the initial "flush.". In order to extract fat for energy your body must fill the cell with water to flush it. Adding protein can help. If you are feeling too hungry add a small bit of fat to help satiate.

Congrats on the loss. You'll feel better than "normal" soon.

Sugar detox SUCKS BUTT. In fact I'm doing it RIGHT NOW from having too much over the holidays! It gets better though... it really does.
