Indulgences?

Do you have a guilty, or no contest, pleasure that you indulge in despite your weight loss effort?

I plan for the extra 110 calories in a regular can of pepsi every day. I know it is empty calies, and can cause me to become more dehydrated, but I love the way it tastes. I can put away the chocolate, the loaves of bread, and the ice cream, but i need my pepsi.

You?

For me it's Diet Coke. I can't give it up. I figure I don't drink, smoke, take drugs, or eat much, I just don't want to give up my only vice!

Well, since I pretty much banned sugar except for special occasions, I get all my pleasure from fruits like apples and oranges. I eat so much fruit. However, since bananas are so high in sugar and fat, they are my guilty pleasure. Very filling too.

So far I have not been very successful in banning sweets, despite my efforts. I still log it, though and try to stay withing my calorie range, but I know that if I want to have long term success I am going to have to cut it back even more.

hereIgoAgain you are my inspiration. I wish I was in a place where my indulgence was a banana, but I'm soooo not there yet.

For me it was almost easy cutting out the sweets (I was pre-diabetic so I was scared of eating too much sugar), so my cravings tend to go toward the salty or high fat (chips and pizza). My sweet indulgence is cheetos (cheese puffs, cheese balls, really any cheesy chip-like product). I don't have them more than once every few weeks and in serious moderation, but ohhhh how I love 'em. Of course since I started eating healthy they don't taste the same, but that just means I'm not tempted to binge on them. For a special treat, nothing beats that cheesy, salty goodness!

Diet Dew is somethign I still have!

I'd say one thing I won't give up is splash of cream in my 1 coffee per day.

Dark chocolate. I make room for it when the craving is really bad (usually during PMS).

cfmama 12-15-2009 09:52 PM

goldfish crackers! Yes I'm serious. I have probably 3 or 4 helpings a week (90 calories for 37 crackers) and log them. I loveses them. lol!

it would have to be m&m's during TOM :) a small regular bag will last me all week long...I'm weird and will put them in my mouth one at a time and suck on them until they melt!

raebeaR 12-15-2009 10:02 PM

Wine. Even though it's allowed on my plan and I can easily build it in to my daily eating patterns, I try to keep it to once or twice a week. And it ALWAYS feels like a cheat! Yay.

Baked Cheetos - I also know that they are empty calories but knowing I can have them helps me stay on track. When I first started I let myself have 1 ounce every day. Now I am happy to have them a couple of times a week.

medinazarley 12-15-2009 10:37 PM

i'm hoping to get my pepsi down to 1-2 a week, like on the weekends. but I'm down to 1 can of sugary cafiene love a day from 3-5. yes, FIVE cans of regular full calorie count cola.

you guys are all so awesome for limiting your indulgences, so much willpower...

duckyyellowfeet 12-15-2009 10:42 PM

3 tablespoons of coffee creamer a day in my morning coffee. 2 pts. of empty calories that I refuse to give up. Some days I skip it but only because I don't want coffee. I hate mornings, so life just isn't bearable before noon without coffee.

Cheese. I love cheese. I wish I could live in a world made of cheese. Seriously. It should be its own food group.

I did say a tearful goodbye to things like brie and gorgonzola. I tried to make it as painless as possible -- I told them I loved them and even said "it's not you, it's me". Oh, but the way they looked at me. I think they even commiserated afterward about how I was leaving them for their fit cousins, 2% sharp cheddar and that *******, laughing cow.

But seriously, I can't do anything less than 2% when it comes to cheese. I'll cut portion sizes, but eww. The nonfat stuff tastes like plastic.
