Default How long is a plateau please?

For my future reference, how long were your plateaus please? I get frustrated after a week of seeing the same number, so I need some harsh reality now, while I can still handle it!

well SOME might say that I'm NOT in a plateau as I've lost SOME weight (pitiful amount) but I'm going on a couple months now of virtually no action. It's my first real one too!

Not an answer you want to hear but it lasts as long as your body wants it to...as long as you are doing everything you need to do then just stick it out or maybe bump up your diligence up a notch to shake things up!

Well I wouldn't say a plateau is a true plateau until there is no loss for 4 weeks. It is normal not to drop any weight for a week or 2, even when doing everything perfectly.

I had a plateau that lasted 3 months and I was extremely diligent. Then one day I started losing weight.

a year.....and counting. And, before I get any suggestions.....I've tried everything and yet I have stayed within the same few pounds for over a year. VERY frustrating. Body size has changed but random number generator does not appreciably change.

I hope to h- e- double hockey sticks that no one else ever goes through this. It is incredibly frustrating to be so motivated, to do so much, to eat so little and still to have no scale movement.

I can only chock it up to abusing my body for so long that it has needed time to recover. I refuse to give up and know that one of these days, my body will easily and effortlessly release some more excess fat.

Also remember that not everyone plateaus, so it's not a forgone conclusion. I wouldn't worry about it until (or unless) it happens!

I went a year without any loss once. Frustrating does not even begin to describe it. My current plateau has lasted two months so far. I seem to hit one every 30 pounds lost, but I think being incredibly carb-sensitive has something to do with how often I get stuck. I certainly wouldn't wish this battle on anyone else! It is what it is, though, and you just have to keep going and wait for your body to catch up.

I haven't had one yet, not what I'd call a plateau, anyway. I've had a week (or two or three) where the scale has bounced around or not dropped very much, but unless I had at least a month of no or minimal loss, I wouldn't say I've plateaued.

What I have noticed in looking at my weekly weight loss, is that my body tends to drop small amounts for about three weeks and then a big loss, then back to small losses and another big loss, repeat, repeat. So although I weigh myself daily and officially weigh-in once a week, for my own sanity I've learned to look at my weight-loss on a monthly basis, which has averaged about the same since I began six months ago.

Previously I experienced a eight week plateau. Today was the official end of a four week plateau. I just looked back and the 8weeker lasted until the 14July and this one lasted until 14Dec. WoW! I am still going to see if my new weight holds for a couple of days before I actually change my ticker.

I wrote about the earlier experience in this post:
