Default Detour Ahead:Chick in a Pickle !

I will be spending three days out of every week working away from home without access to a computer. I won't be able to connect with 3fc which I will really miss, or track food on Spark People like I do now. I'll be staying at my daughter's which will be boobie trapped with lots take-out and junk food and I'm worried that I won't have much time to prepare stuff to bring from home.
I would really appreciate any suggestions you may have keep me on track.

You could plan your menu ahead of time and take your own food. Maybe, find some things your daughter likes to make for the two of you. She probably would like to not have to cook. You could ask her to put her foods in a cupboard out of sight. Good Luck!

I've found that if I'm in a place that is unfriendly to my diet I have to take my meal that I have premade and eat it away from those who are eating fast food and junk food. It is too tempting..if I ask for one fry I'll get the taste stuck on my brain and then run out to McD's to get a large fry.

Be strong!

We are talking about a teenie tiny little apt in new york city. There really isn't any escaping space anywhere. I guesse I can pick up a few staples , bring my weights, resistance bands, and a food scale...God I feel like such a bag lady...

Don't. I took bagged oatmeal/dried blueberries on my last trip to visit my dad. My dad and stepmom looked at me kind of weird when I turned down the leftover sausage/egg/cheese breakfast casserole and went for my oatmeal, but I gotta do it for ME! They were cool by day 3 (I did eat the breakfast casserole on day 1 when it was a huge event with my brothers and their families).

Just do what you need to do. Pack it, buy it, what ever.

My sisters and I meet up, carrot sticks, celery, fruit, diet pepsi, big bottles of water, for family stuff, healthy dishes in hand.

Just do it. What ever IT turns out to be.

I was thinking: what about one of those home delivery places that deliver what look like great diet meals. I don't know what your budget is... here's one in New York: http://www.inthezonedelivery.com/

No decisions to make. Just eat what they bring and that's it.

Thanks Everyone !
Suzee,
It is not for sure yet, but if all goes well, I'll need to be in new york three days a week. I will be very busy while I'm there, so I am going to have to adapt somewhat. Diet delivery service isn't an option , but there are lots of asian take out choices, and I can ask for brown rice and sauce on the side. Scales make me crazy. I have been spending alot of time tracking and planning my food choices, because that is a way of knowing I am doing well w/out weighing myself very often. I guess I can still keep a diary and carry a calorie booklet . I have been thinking about schleping those weights around though...and that's just too much... I will bring sneakers instead. Walking in the city can be fun and I can do the resistance when Im home.

Pack a small rice cooker and cook your own food?

It really, really sucks not having a computer. I'm thinking that NY has a lot of vegetarian restaurants. Asian has a lot of salt, oil and sugar with the veggies so be careful. Well, how about Lean cuisines? They make some good stuff that you could get by on for 3 days. Three days a week I drink EAS 17 gr protein drinks (110 cal.) for breakfast, so that might work; then you could eat food when you have time and can make better choices, later in the day.
