Opinions Please! (OT)

Hi guys.

I've been experimenting with pasting my face onto others to see what sort of hairstyle might suit me when I get to goal.

It's at my regular blog: http://prairiehometherapy.blogspot.c...h-my-hair.html

Would you mind voting and letting me know which you like? I don't know what to think.

If you don't mind, please use your 3FC name when commenting, so I'll know who you are!

Thanks.

The bottom left one in set #1 makes you look like Annette Bening in American Beauty. Very cute! The top right one in set #2 is gorgeous, and the top left is just plain hot! ;)

I left a comment on your blog. I agree with bottom left in set 1 and top left in set 2. LOVE top left in set 2, in fact!

I too left you a comment/vote. Love a bob. It looks great on everyone.

I like the bobs but reccommend that you not make any decision on changing your hairstyle until you get to goal . What you think will look good now could change when you reach goal.

losermom 10-04-2009 11:04 AM

Bargoo, I have to respectfully disagree. Alana should not have to delay feeling and looking her very best until she reaches goal. We have to stop thinking that we will start living our life when we get to a certain weight. Yes, any hairstyle will look very different at different weights. But the beauty of hair is that you can change it! What Alana likes and looks good on her now will probably change when she reaches goal. Change is good--let's embrace it!

I like the bottom left in the first set also, but, if you are going to wait until you are at goal, I would put your face back into the photos at your goal weight to see if it still fits the shape of your face. The shape of my face has changed drastically and hair styles that I wouldn't have tried at 255, I would try now. (Which is I think what bargoo was saying also, not that you shouldn't get a new style now).

She specifically asked for a hairstyle WHEN she reaches goal. I was just suggesting that what looks good now, may not when she gets to goal.I am not suggesting anything other than commenting on what she asked for. Her exact words were " what sort of hairstyle might suit me when I get to goal,:

Yes, I did say "when I get to goal" didn't I? And yeah, my face will be somewhat thinner, then.

However, although I do have a face picture from when I was last 135 pounds, it was also, oh....20 years ago, now?

So, let's figure out what looks good on me now. I should have put it that way.

But, if I DO decide on a radical change--then I'll have at least a couple of dos to choose from.

I have not had my hair cut at a professional salon ever. Sad, isn't it? I've always gone to the "cheapest" places--and when I couldn't stand that anymore ("Would you please cut it this time with a side part? It reall does look better on me than one in the middle." They'd reply, "Oh no, we can't do that. Everyone's hair gets cut on the middle part. You're free to go home and part it on the side, of course.") I simply gave up and grew it out. I hated that after about three or four years and cut it to just below my ears last year. That was fun...but now I have hair that curls every which way at the ends and is frizzy.

I actually was thinking that at 50 pounds lost I may walk into a salon with one (or two) of these pics and ask if my hair is suitable for that cut.

Thanks for all your input everyone.

I think I said, "When I get to goal...." because "going to a salon" and paying more than $20.00 is going to be a BIG DEAL for me--and of course, one is not entitled to making a BIG DEAL unless one has somehow earned it, right?

Yeah, right.

Interesting: Here is the vote tally:

5 bottom left
5 top left
1 bottom right
1 bottom left
1 top right.

Folk sure like Bobs! Fortunately, I do too. I do have a bit of a wave, though.

Thanks, chickies. This was fun!

Bargoo, I'm sorry! I did misread Alana's OP. I got carried away. I love trying new things with my hair and discussing it with girlfriends and photos. I sound like a teenager, not a fully grown 46 year old.

Alana, before you book any appointment, I would ask women whose hairstyles you do like who their stylist is. Also, some salons print coupons in the newspapers or give their clients referral coupons to new clients. I certainly don't think you need to wait until goal though. It's your choice.

Thanks LoserMom!

That is great advice...and I need to do this carefully.

But I love your enthusiasm...I feel like I'm 16 today, too. See my new avatar with the red shirt and my current hair "done"? I just put it up today. Yep--I bought make up last night and put it on this morning. :)

thanks so much!

losermom 10-04-2009 07:20 PM

Alana, you have beautiful hair. Your new avatar is stunning! I'm jealous of your waves because mine is super straight. You might even consider highlights, lowlights or a new haircolor altogether. I change my hair color more often than my hairstyle!

wittleaway 10-04-2009 08:51 PM

You have beautiful thick hair. When I got my long hair cut friends told me not to go too short. So I got a long Bob and was glad I did. You can always go shorter but can"t replace hair after it has been cut. Enjoy trying new styles. Sandy

:o Shucks.
Thanks. I needed that!

My son said I looked like "the dead" and my daughter said I didn't look like "a Mommy." :D
