I was sitting at dinner with my family - I knew I was getting full, yet I still ate a couple more bites, and some more fruit, and maybe another bite.... Not unhealthy food, but I KNEW I was full - why didn't I just say no?!
I have spent a lot of years not saying no to food, & it's obviously still an issue! Do you have any tips to help me?
I don't know your situation, but I know that when I'm having dinner at someone else's house I am often pressured into eating more and more. The host or hostess just keeps pushing and pushing until I give in and eat more! I don't know what the deal is! Everyone is so focused on EATING!!!!
I find eating slower helps. I've really started to hate that 'really full' feeling. I like to be satisfied, but anything past that is uncomfortable.
So what i do is eat as slowly as i can (whatever slowish pace is reasonable for you), and drink water in between bites.
Removing the food after you feel full is also something i do. Whether that is taking your plate to the kitchen, throwing out the food, or putting your napkin on your plate. Which ever will stop you from taking more food. Oh and if you're eating family style, just put what you think you can eat on your plate, and then only take more if you are still hungry.
