Hey guys! Something that keeps me going on this weight loss journey is the numbers-on the scale, measurements, clothing sizes, etc... I also like knowing my BMI as I lose. If your BMI based on height and weight is 20-25 you are at a healthy weight. If you are 25-30 that is considered overweight. Above 30 is obese. 40 and higher is morbidly obese. With my starting numbers my BMI was 48!! Amazing. Now it is 40 which is the starting range for morbidly obese. I will be so glad to get rid of the morbidly part (not that I am thrilled to be obese either!)
Here are some sites to check out your numbers-- www.knowyourbmi.com
or you can go to www.weightwatchers.com on the bottom of the page there is an ideal weight chart and a BMI calculator too!
Oh, thanks Lorilei! ANOTHER number!!!! No, really it IS good to see the numbers go down. I'm at 43...BUT...on Jan. 1, it was 53, so that s a way good thing!
Thanks, (for real) Laura. You're doing an excellent job! Thanks for the inspiration...now, would you take these Dunkin' Donuts out of my apt?????....
I am only 5 feet tall.. so my weight can be misleading to some. My temp goal is to get it down to 30 - then I will go from there .. geee I don't like the word morbidly.. that hurts!
Gayle aka Velvet-You are doing great! The BMI down 10 points??
Woo Hoo!:sheep: The sheep has nothing to do with this I just think that it's cute! What in the world are you doing with those donuts ?? That would be hard for me to deal with I think. I know you can have one but oh the calories!!
Hey Inca's Momma-Well atleast you know what you are starting with, mine was about the same. It will sound dramatic once you meet your goal!
Slimdown-I think that is an excellent goal. When my BMI was 30 (a million years ago!!) I thought I looked pretty good. I think if you got there and just maintained it would be great. And of course if you wanted to lose more when you are ready-all the bettlo
I've been lurking in here for a while. I'm with the low carbers in Miscellaneous. I started out with a BMI of 35 and now it's down to 29. It's definitely doable!!!
When I started my weight loss program in April, my BMI was 45 Good gracious! But, 42.2 pounds later, it is down to 39... at least I am out of the "morbid" part!!
What a great feeling it will be to say one day "My BMI used to be 45 & know it is 25!"
