It is my first nursing job. I worked in accounting for years and years... and the manufacturing plant where I worked closed and the work was moved out of the country. That gave us NAFTA benefits, so I decided to take a different path and went to nursing school.

The position is an inpatient behavioral health unit in one of the hospitals where I did clinicals. I don't know that mental health is going to be my calling, but I am thrilled to be working at this hospital and I know that when the economy improves and there are openings in other departments it will be easier to change positions than to get hired from outside.

For now I am very grateful to have a job and I am really looking forward to learning more about mental health. We had one clinical rotation at a state mental health facility and I truly loved the time we spent there. I hope this is as challenging and rewarding.

Thanks to everyone for the well-wishes! Being a fulltime student was an interesting experience, but I'm a grown up who feels much better to have a job than to not. I am still dancing!
