Default Finally found a goal--but must lose 127lbs to get there

I turned 53 a couple of weeks ago, and the night before my birthday a new personal slogan came to mind: "Finding me at 53". I want to find the real me who has been buried underneath all this fat for so many years.

I was just reading the thread about how overwhelming it is to realize you have to lose over 100 pounds. I'm in that boat. It's SO overwhelming that many times, it causes me to throw in the towel before I even make any progress.

Someone mentioned not worrying about how long it takes to lose the weight, even if it takes two years. I thought, hey, that might work for me. My body loses S-L-O-W-L-Y, and I do mean SLOWLY. It'll take me 2 years to lose what I need to lose, if not more (but I'm trying not to think of the "if not more" part).

In thinking about the next 2 years, and how much I have to lose, I decided that my new goal will be to weigh 155 when I turn 55, which will be in August of 2011.

As of today, I need to take off 127lbs to get to that goal.

I have no idea if I can do it or not, but I'm going to do my best to get there. I'll have to take off 1.32lbs each week to meet this goal.

It really is overwhelming to think about, and I haven't had much luck with losing for many years now, so I don't know what's going to happen.

All I know is that I have to try to do this...

I'm writing this here so that I'll have something to look back on, hopefully when I'm much smaller and healthier!

I think that is a wonderful goal! And, remember, you will start enjoying the rewards of being thinner and healthier long before you reach goal. You won't have to wait.

Of course you can do this! And you will! All you need is to work hard and persevere. I NEVER EVER EVER thought I could lose as much weight as I have... and I did! Why? Because I STUCK TO IT. Through EVERYTHING (and trust me... been through a lot in the past four months) You can too. I know you can

Smile I'm in this boat with you, too.

I started with one hundred and six pounds to lose. Right now I have 84 lbs. to lose. I have lots of mini goals. My next goal is one pound away. I will have lost 10% of my original body weight. I just do "what I can today". My philosophy is "If I do all I can today, then the days will add up to my success". I don't know when I will reach my goal, I just have faith that I will. In losing this weight, I have seen my weight go down, up up up, down down up down...lol...my weight chart looks like a roller coaster, but it is steadily going down.
I wish you success and I am in this with you.

I started with over 100 lbs to loose. I'm nowhere near goal, but I'm about halfway there. The feelings of being healthier started probably 20 lbs ago, when I started being able to jog some and getting into regular sizes. I've been at this a year now, and am down nearly 60 lbs, and even though the going is slow, it's much better than going in the opposite direction.

I think you have a great plan for '53.' It can be a little overwhelming, I started out wanting to loose the same amount and wondered a lot at the beginning if I could actually do this. I am half way through now and the time seems to have flown by. I can't believe that I am 6 months into this and have lost 60lbs. It can happen and will happen, just take things one day at a time.

You absolutely CAN do this, and it really doesn't matter how long it takes. Just stick with your plan, progress - not perfection is the goal.

I started my weight loss journey at age 50, so I'm here to tell you that you absolutely CAN do this.

Post often, it really does help I look forward to seeing you around here, and reading of your progress!

Yes, you can do it, absolutely you can.

I'm 54 with 120 to lose, 64lbs gone already. This is going to sound really dumb but - the more you lose, the more you want to, it's great to see that number going up!

Good luck!

With counting down on this one--YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN DO THIS.

I myself--found much pleasure in seeing even .5 pound loss of the scale. I fell in love with new found ways of cutting calories, adding in whole foods, drinking water, getting in activity, etc.

My goal was/is another .5 pound down on the scale. I would have been WAY too overwhelmed to have considered than many, many pounds I had ahead of me.

Come here and come often. We are all here for you 24/7. Support but answers too.

The great thing is that once you are heavily given to eating healthy and moving you feel MUCH better. Within a few weeks, others start to notice and your pants are falling off.

GO! GO! GO! No looking back now---just DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!
