Self talk, something we already do/need to do/or need to do more of.

This is something that often comes up here, so I thought I'd post it. :)

Thanks for sharing. That had some points that hit home, especially:

Whenever you find that you are verbally beating yourself up or telling yourself things are hopeless, stop and ask yourself if you’d say this to someone who came to you for help with the same problem.

That's a wonderful article. It said a lot that I think is important for me to keep in mind. I know I'm my own worst critic. Nobody has ever put me down the way I do myself. Even as I crack the discipline whip to watch what I eat and push myself to work out, its really important to remember to pat myself on the back too when I'm doing a good job and encourage myself (something i NEVER do).

I definitely agree with the superior effectiveness of loving yourself thin over hating yourself thin. And I also use the criteria of whether I would talk that way to someone I love, especially a young person. That's an approach I try to suggest when I see posts built on hating oneself thin.

You should see the others! I love cats and adore shoes, so I was tickled when I ran across a series of kittens in shoes and purses photos by Keith Kimberlin. Do a Google image search on "shoehandbagcats" for some scrumptious cuteness. (I'd post the link, but my newbie status will not allow.)
