Default confessions of a hiccuper

Hi ladies

Well, only my second weigh-in and I didn't lose an ounce! I own it though. Just a little here and a little there and I have gone too high and into maintenance mode. Also, it's my "monthly" week, and I am unable to exercise on that week on medical advice.
So, plan for this week coming.
Cut down the wine to one standard drink = 114mls per day max
Plan my meals in advance, rather than record what I ate.
As I write that, I realise how risky the method I used this past week was. Of course I'll overdo it!! Dah!
Drink 6 glasses of water a day
Exercis 4 times this week

Any other suggestions?
Happy 4th of July to all you US ladies!!
Have a good day!

Finni

Totally your call - but wine has a lot of sugar, so even cutting back to one glass every second day would save you something.

And water ideally is up to 8 glasses a day. But water, exercise and planning are all huge elements to helping with success so it sounds like you've got the basics down. Just need to tweak them for how they work for you. Good luck this week!

thanks Chickiegirl, I'll give the 'every-other-day-with-the-wine' thing a go, though I hang out for that glass by the end of the day. sounds like I'm a bit of a drinker doesn't it, but not really. It's usually just a glass with dinner. Still, do i want to lose this extra 'me' I carry around more than a glass of wine every night??? You betcha!
One thing I have struggled with over the years of trying to get weight off again and again, is that it all feels too depriving for too long and I give up. I want to find the balance so I can live it, long term, rather than just stick to it for 6 or 7 weeks then give up cause it's "too hard". I'm not sure if that's just a head thing, or if it is somewhat physiological as well. Guess I'll have to wait and see to some degree.

Before I gave it up entirely I got to where I would cut my wine with water, half and half. Was least noticeable with chardonnay...which I never liked that much anyway.

Keep you glass of wine if it makes you feel like you are having a treat and you are willing to cut back in other areas instead.

Note that you may still be bloated from TOM. I can drop a couple of pounds in a day at the end. You might be the same. If you should have lost something according to your calcs, it might be worth checking your weight for the next couple of days to see if it whooshes off. (unless weighing too often does your head in, in which case, ignore that advice)

I hope you try not to deprive yourself this time around and instead find options that work for you. I mean, I have chips or a cookie every night for dessert. But it's a whole wheat cookie (sometimes with chocolate chips) and reduced fat kettle-cooked chips. But I need those sweets and I need dessert and having what you love in your new lifestyle will help you stick with it.

Also, over time, you may find there are things you crave less and less as you change your habits and your tastes change.

But don't be afraid to try new things and see if they can work for you. (eg: Before I was always afraid to try something because - gasp! - what if it made me gain?) If you gain, you know not to eat it again, but tweaking like that is how you'll find things you enjoy and will help get you a broader menu so you don't feel deprived.
