If you're doing well with your food plan, you'll see the pounds drop sooner or later. The water fluctuations can be murder when you are waiting to see the scale move down. I know I'll see water changes if I drink too much diet soda, or alcohol, or have a really carb-heavy meal even if it's within my plan, or eat something salty... or if the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars... *sighs*

But over time, it DOES work. If you work your plan, your plan will work. So long as your plan is healthy and calorie-restricting (whether that's points, calorie counting, carb counting, or what), you WILL lose the weight.

Ugh! It's so frustrating when you hanging on the edge of hitting a goal! I'm in the same boat if it makes you feel any better. I got down to the next decade on the scale (a place I haven't been in a decade) and then overnight I went up 2 lbs. and I'm having to fight my way back down again. Grrrr!

You are totally going to hit it. Consider this the moment where your resolve is being tried and you get to prove how serious you are about getting the weight off. You WILL do this.

1st goal- ONEDERLAND! Check!
2nd goal- Less than 194 (a number I've been stuck at before) CHECK!
3rd goal- Reach the 180's- haven't been there since 1999. CHECK!
4th goal- 180 which means hitting the 50 lbs. lost mark! Check!
5th goal- Switching to size goals now more than pounds goals. Goal is to make it to size 12, at whatever weight that happens. CHECK!
6th goal- Size 10! (can't even believe this is possible!)
7th goal- Size 8 and MAINTAIN!

I'm sure it's just TOM effects. If you can just hang in through it, chances are it'll peel off pretty quickly afterwards.

Yep. As long as you stay on plan, make sure you are counting every single bite and being honest with yourself about it... it will come off! Periods are murder on weight loss but the good news is it comes off easily after it`s done.

This is it in a nutshell. I LOVE THIS!!!! Love it. Love it. LOVE IT!

Hope you don't mind if I quote you on this, because I plan on using that simplistic, yet oh so brilliant phrase.

I don't think people are aware that even one "off" day can derail ones weight loss. Heck, never mind one off day, but even one off meal.

I actually used my impatience to my advantage. It made me stick to my plan even that much more so.

Oh, how maddening!

You have lost the weight--it just isn't showing up on the scales. Stick to your plan. Keep up the good fight.

hit the nail on the head....

I have had to develop more patience in this process and I am generally considered a patient person. For probably multiple reasons including time of life, my weight loss has been slower than others on this board. I have to remind myself that it has been steady. I have had a very few weeks that did not show weight loss but invariably, the next week I would show double weight loss that made up for the previous week.

I remind myself (and you) that slow and steady wins the race. I am creating new and better habits. Studies show that you are more likely to keep the weight off when you lose slowly and all the other platitudes about slow weight loss.

You can do this. Besides, what are your other options!

Actually, if you speak amongst maintainers, the rate at which you lose the weight is NOT telling in whether or not you will keep it off. Those that are the most successful in keeping it off, are the ones who remain vigilant and continue with their plan, long after reaching goal, regardless of the speed in which they lost it.

Doesn't matter how fast or how slow you go - if you revert back to your old ways - you'll gain the weight back.
