Default Blasted scale...

Ok so I started this month with even more determination and consistency and it seemed to be paying off... I went from 237.4 to 231.8... a loss of 5.6 lbs in two weeks. YAY!

But the last two days the scale has been going the other direction. Now I did a lot of yard work this weekend and was super sore so I expected to be retaining some water on Monday morning... but my scale jumped to 233 yesterday and 235 this morning! Grrr... I've been calorie counting, drinking water, not eating any insane amounts of sodium...

I'm not sure what I'm hoping to get out of posting this as I know there could be any number of reasons for a jump on the scale and I know I haven't consumed enough calories to actually gain that much weight in the last two days... I guess I'm just venting because it has me disappointed and my reserve is faultering a bit. As always, thanks for reading!

Just keep it up, keep on drinking the water to help flush out any water you are retaining and you'll see it go back down and then some

The scale will eventually catch up. It sucks, I know, but keep the faith!

Is there any way that it could be close to your time of the month for your period? My weight ALWAYS goes up the week before then!

Kae, you are forgetting that one all-important basic fact: pounds of fat are sneaky, deceitful little rats that will do anything ---- including playing with your head and playing with your scale --- to try to get you to quit.

It isn't YOU at all ---- it's THEM!

Since your eating is good and you are drinking your water, thumb your nose at those little conniving beasts and defy them by making it your goal to really enjoy yourself for the next 3 days. Get outside and take in all that spring sun and flowers and chirping birds! Whip up a wild low-fat recipe from 3FC, something outside your comfort zone! Go on a window shopping excursion with a good friend or soak in a candle-lit tub or take in a movie! Just absolutely ignore the little creeps for the next 3 days, never deviating from your course but ENJOYING it, and I bet you they will tuck their tails between their tails and crawl out of your life forever.

What have you got to lose? You will be staying on program just like now, but you will be having fun instead of letting a handful of creepy little fat pounds suck the joy out of your days.

Thanks everyone for the responses! It really kept me in check... I walked (rather than drove) across to the drug store to get a snack... walking down the snack aisle and eyeing all the goodies, I browsed and read labels. ...I left the store with a single serving packet of nuts and dried blueberries.

Thanks!... I tried to remind myself that this morning... They must have realized I was getting closer to the 220's and are hanging on for dear life. LOL.

First of all, congratulations on your great results so far! And secondly, I totally feel your pain. Going through the same kind of thing just now, it's hard!
Hang in there, eventually it will start going down again!

Oh, good for you on your snack choice, Kae! And for walking when you normally would drive.

I have to say that I think that the boundaries between the "decades" on a scale are rubber and when we get close to one, we bounce. And we may have to hit that a few times before we finally hit hard enough to break through to the new digits. I am right where you are (and have been for almost 2 weeks): 231, 233, 230, 232, 230, 234, 231....etc. It's that gosh-darned rubber wall!
