The Music That Moves You
Alot of people hate to exercise. Well I love it. I have a hard time watching what i eat but exercise is a no brainer for me. If I have to miss a workout i am beside myself. I love love love it! But I think even I would find trudging on the treadmill boring if it weren't for my music.
My music is as important to my success as exercise, food, and 3FC. It gives me that energy I need, it helps me escape, makes me feel like moving! I thought I'd share my most recent play list with you all. :carrot: Lady Gaga: Just Dance Poker face BoysBoysBoys Paparazzi The Ting Tings: That's Not My Name Shut Up and Let Me Go We Walk Kalley Clarkson: Ms Independant My Life Would SucK Without You Carly Rae Jespen: Tug Of War Kevin Rudolph: Welcome to the World Jesse McCartney: How Do You Sleep Beyonce: Single Ladies Beyonce: Halo Tyga: Coconut Juice Leona Lewis: I Will Be T.I. : Dead and Gone So...What are you listening to?:carrot: |

I don't know what my song list says about me except that I am gettin' old:
1. All Star: Smash Mouth 2. Back Stabbers: The O'Jays 3. Black Horse and the Cherry Tree: KT Tunstall 4. Call Me: Blondie 5. Can't Let Go: Lucinda Williams 6. Closer: Nine Inch Nails 7. Clumsy: Fergie 8. Cold Shot: Stevie Ray Vaughn 9. Do Ya: Electric Light Orchestra 10. Doctor's Orders: Carol Douglas 11. Fight the Power: The Isley Brothers 12. Forever: Chris Brown [He's in disgrace, in my eyes, so I skip this one.] 13. Genius of Love: Tom Tom Club 14. Get the Party Started: Pink 15. Give Up the Funk: Parliament 16. Go Your Own Way: Fleetwood Mac 17. Gonna Make You Sweat: C+C Music Factory That's if I play the shuffle in order rather than shuffling & that takes me through one workout & the cooldown afterward. I think the music's critical to my workout if I'm in the gym. I believe that I actually go into a trance-like state, or some kind of meditative state & the music is critical for me maintaining a certain level of energy through my workout. When my iPod gets sick & stops playing (sweat in it, running down battery), it really screws up my workout. |
:carrot:My daughter downloaded 150 of my favorite songs to my i-pod and it is GREAT to work out to!! I just shut my eyes and go!!! It has a little of everything on it from the 70s and 80s, some country, some new music like Gwen Stefani (Holler back girl) older rock like Queen and she through in some soul! I love to work out too Sexual Healing from Marvin Gaye!! I have been on the elyptical just stepping away and lip syncing to look up and see people looking at me like "what the heck?" but I just smile and keep on moving! Alot of the music takes me back to other times in my life and I can reflect and remember and then my work out is suddenly over! I will put down 10 good ones!

i totally am with you on the love-to-exercise-but-eat-like-a-maniac bandwagon. i wish it wasnt so easy to eat up all those calories i can work off! any whoodle GIRL TALK is the best thing to exercise to ever. i dont know if you are familiar but he is a dj and each song he makes is a mash up of about 20 different songs. perfectttt for exercise as it gives you these great little intervals to go crazy hard and then take it back down. i think you can still download his new cd 'feed the animals' for free at ...i tthink the website is called 'illegal art' or something like that. but yeah highly recommended.

Betcha' my songs are older than your songs. Ha! But I agree--the Ipod has made all the difference. I don't really listen to my music except when I am exercising so it makes me look forward to listening and sweating.

I believe she got a 4GB Nano for around $60! (That's the same one my husband got as a gift from BIL two years ago and it sure wasn't $60) I bought myself one as a Christmas gift. My husband never buys me anything so I said screw it and just did it. First time in 14 years I've done anything like that. Thank goodness for Bill Me Later! LOL! BTW, my 9 year old was sorta hinting he may like an iPod for his birthday. WalMart has the 1GB iPod Shuffle for $48! That holds 240, 4 minute songs! If I can't find him a good used one, that would be the one I get him. It comes in cool colors too. As for music, now that I am starting to workout, I agree, music IS important. While the songs I have listed are newer, I am really more of a classic rock and 90's grunge/alternative/punk kinda gal. Obviously I am open to lots of types of music though. My favourite band of all time will always be the Beatles. However, now I am gonna go look for some ELO for my workout music! DH will love that. He is almost 7 years older then me. :D |
I like some nasty old Peaches for workouts. Good beats, fun lyrics, she's my workout buddy now. With those x-rated lyrics I always feel like I have a great secret in the weights room. If only those big 'roids dudes knew what I was rocking, they could build muscle like me!
I also rock a lot of 90's rock, particularly old Riot Grrl bands. Throw in a little 70's dirt rock and I've got a great workout! |
I love my ipod! I've been listening to the Lance Armstrong workout mix, it's on itunes. It has some keane, weezer, beck, all american rejects.
On my other workout playlist I have: American Woman- Lenny Kravitz Love Shack- B52's One Week- Bare Naked Ladies Sin Wagon- Dixie Chicks Ready to Run- Dixie Chicks Keep on Runnin- Journey Whammy Kiss- B52's Crash into me- Dave Matthews Band it's the end of the world as we know it- REM I'm a believer-Smashmouth Let's Go- The Cars Brickhouse- Commadores Single ladies- Beyonce Hot n Cold- Katy Perry So What -Pink Shut up and Drive- Rihanna Short Skirt/long jacket- Cake Mr brightside- The killers Just Dance - Lady GaGa |
