Default For fellow Canadians....

has anyone ordered stuff from a U.S. Catalogue recently? I ask because the bras I love, and usually order from Sears, are about 60$ but I've seen them online, at LaneBryant for about 23$, and the saver in me wants to get some! I know they'll fit so that's not the problem -- is there a large duty to be paid on stuff still? I'd hate to order 4 bras for 100$ only to find there's about $50 in tax due on it when i go to pick it up

any insight is appreciated, thanks!

p.s. Glamorise Magic Lift are the best.thing.ever LOL

I have an order with Amazon that I haven't actually placed yet. It shows $15.80 in the "import fees deposit" box for an order of $120 (+ $21 shipping and handling) if that's any help.

The duty is usually the GST plus whatever provincial sales tax and then they add $5.00 for processing at least that is how it is always figured when I've ordered anything. If the item is under $20.00 then it doesn't cost.
Hope this helps

Tracey,
Here in BC, we don't pay duty on anything valued under 60.00. Over that, we do.
Once, I ordered some advantage (doggie flea stuff) on ebay from Australia. It was a GREAT deal, but when I picked it up at the P.O.....they charged me duty that made the stuff no deal at all in the end....

But under 60.00 and you'll be OK.

That's the extent of my knowledge on the subject..

Default US Deliver Services

You don't say where you are in Ontario. I am in Sarnia, right on the Michigan border. There are places that act as a "mailbox" for us in the states. For a very very small fee, we can have items delivered to them. We then can bring them across the border without incurring some of the charges if they are still under our allocation. If you are in or near a bordertown, this may be available to you too.
