I disagree with those who say those counting calories won't benefit from eating slowly.

If you feel more satisfied, if your belly feels full, if you get an emotional benefit to your food --regardless of the plan -- you're more likely to stick to it, make it a lifestyle change, and eat less in the long run.

Another calorie counter here who eats a set amount of food. And one who unfortunately still eats waaaay too fast. I DO need to work on it. Jessica cetainly makes some good reasons as to why eating slower may be beneficial.

But I don't think that eating slowly is the most important and determining factor in weight loss. I have a calorie allotment that I adhere to, so therefore I have a predetermined amount of food that I eat. That is what I believe it all boils down to.

So while there may be some benefits to slowing down, I would not rely on it soley as a weight loss plan.

I know that it adds to your feeling satisfied with what you eat. My problem is I like HOT food. If I were to take twenty minutes to eat my dinner, it would be stone-cold YUCK

Satisfaction is a separate issue. I was saying that eating slowly doesn't help one in losing weight...100 calories consumed in 1 minute vs 10 minutes are still 100 calories. If eating slowly is a trick that helps you to stay on your plan, that's another thing entirely.
