Cool Walking alone.

I had made plans with a friend to walk this morning at a local park. I sent her a text last night, we agreed to a time, and said she'd meet me there. Well, fifteen minutes after the time we were supposed to meet had passed and she still wasn't there. So I sent her a text, thinking maybe she was running late, but it went unanswered.

So I sat in my car for a few minutes trying to decide what I wanted to do. Should I go home? Should I go to the warm and brightly lit gym? Or should I get off my bum and just go? Part of me was disappointed and just wanted to go home. Plus, I had my ipod, but no earphones. I hate exercising in silence. So I figured I'd go to the gym, they have the place tuned to a local radio station. It's not what I like, but still, it's something.

Well, after a few more minutes of pondering, I rolled up the window, locked my car, and proceeded to stretch. I walked two miles. And the only reason I left was because I needed to use a bathroom and wasn't about to use the park's facilities (ew).

Anyway, the whole reason I'm sharing this with you guys is because I'm proud of myself. Under normal circumstances, being stood up would have bummed me out and made me want to just go home and sulk (and probably eat). I feel good!

Oh and for the cherry to top my sundae? I got a few blocks from the park when I noticed something coming out of my sweater pocket and was tapping the center console. I HAD THE EARPHONES IN MY POCKET THE WHOLE TIME! I must have forgotten to take them out the last time I went.

Hope you all have a great day!

Great job!

We're all so different. I LOVE running, by myself, in silence. In the dark before hardly anyone else it out either.

That's so awesome! I prefer going by myself. Just me and my ipod and pushing myself to the limit!

That's great! I've been using the treadmill mostly, but have gotten my son to walk with me outside. It is so nice to get outdoors, it clears the mind. It's nice to have someone with you, but as long as you are in a safe place walking alone can great.

I feel so good about it that I don't even care why she didn't show.

It was so nice being outside. It was dark and cold and quiet (too quiet) and there were maybe three or four other people there. It was great. I prefer having something to listen to, it makes time go by faster and I don't get to hear the creepy 4am park noises.

I'd love a walking buddy, too Winter is quickly approaching here, though, and pretty soon the sub-zero temps will have me wanting a gym!! Great job on just biting the bullet and getting a great walk in! I love taking my ipod with as well!

Buddies are overrated. But I'm totally with you on exercising in silence - I work WAY harder with tunes.

Good for you getting your workout in even when it wasn't quite what you had originally planned!!!

that's great crash! I know even on days when I really don't want or feel like working out, and I push myself anyway, I'm always really glad and much more relaxed and at peace with myself when I do. It just feels good, ya know?

Hey good for you. You don't need anyone for this journey. It's all about YOU afterall. I love telling myself that anyway! We are all here for you at 3FC!

I go alone too--every morning, come hail or high water, I run alone at 5:30 a.m. One word regarding your IPOD, can you try taking one earphone out. If you are by yourself, it is probably safer so you can hear what is going on around you. I have an IPOD too but almost run without it 100% of the time.
