Going on vacation

Tomorrow DH and I leave for 10 days in Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and the Tetons. Part of that is with a group, part on our own with another couple. It will be an active vacation (the group is a walking tour) and we also have reservations for doing two half day rafting trips.

I'm more than a little nervous. I am in better shape, but am still worried that I will not be able to do the walking/hiking. (Most of the excursions are 5+ miles.) I don't want to be the deadweight that holds DH or my friends back because I can't keep up.

The food on these trips is also usually very good...and of course we will eat out every meal. (And there really isn't an option, no kitchen, no food stores.) I have a plan, but am worried that it will be too easy to just eat...and eat...and eat. I am okay with coming back without having lost, but I don't want to put any of this weight back on. It was too hard to lose the first time.

I won't be logging on (well we leave tomorrow evening, so maybe tomorrow) but keep me in your thoughts.

Pandora I hope you have a lovely vacation! If you get a chance to log in before you leave then just remember a few things:
1. You can only do what you can do regarding walking. If you truly need a break, then speak up. Don't push yourself! You could could end up with an injury, sprain, pulled muscle, etc. and then where would you be? I'm sure your friends and hubby would have no problems stopping for a few minute break to let you rest. And drink plenty of water!
2. About the food, all that eating out will be hard! But, try your hardest to make the best choices possible. Even if there are not that great of choices available then you can pick the least damaging one and hopefully all your walking will counteract the effects.
3. Remember to have fun and stay safe :)

Have a wonderful time!! As for the walking...just do what you can.

As for the food - maybe you could pack a cooler with fruit, veggies, string cheese and healthy drinks to have on hand. Also, have a bag of one calorie crackers, etc.

Make the best choices you can at the restaurants.

Have fun.

If you can - still write down what you eat. It helps me from going 'crazy' with food when I am out of town. It keeps it all kind of real. But, enjoy your food - whatever the choices are.
