Post Newbie

Hi everyone.

I am new to the site and I need to lose about 100 lbs. I am not rushing to lose weight. My mother had lots of health issues and my older sister is in the same path as my mother. I want to break the pattern and not be so heavy and end up in dialysis until I die. I started eating organic foods when she passed away and now I am incorporating my exercise program. Wish me luck and success.

Hi Mel,
I can relate. My Mom was diabetic and we just lost her a couple of months ago. My sister is diabetic. I'm trying really hard to avoid it myself. Hopefully I'll show my kids how they can live healthier too. It is so doable, even though I was sure it wasn't for many years. Much success to you!

Mel - welcome to 3FC! If you put your mind to it, you can lose the weight. It might seem daunting at first, but you just take it one pound at a time.

Post here often whenever you need support!

Hi there Mel. I'm new new to the forums as well, also with 100 (plus) pounds to lose. Weight related illnesses run in my family and I'm doing everything I can to break free from our family norm.
You've joined a wonderfully supportive and inspiring site. I wish you many successes!

Hi Mel (and everyone else),
I'm new here too. I think it's amazing that you are trying to stop the cycle of poor health now.
I like what Lori said...it's one pound at a time. I think you've made a positive
start just joining this website and jumping right in to say hello.
I've been reading the posts for over a month now and there is a tonne of great information, not to mention the fact that everyone is in the same boat so you don't have to feel like you are making this journey on your own.
Keep positive and keep posting.
Best wishes of success to you!
Tammy

Thanks to all of you ladies! I am not really following any type of program. I am basically doing what I know is right. I read a lot of health books and I walk everyday after work for about a half hour (it doesnt help that i work in an office and sit all day long answering calls). I am also doing a workout video by a guy named Gilad. Have any of you heard of him? I did his workout years ago without changing my diet and i lost 30 lbs and gained half of it back. =( But i know i will do better this time. Thanks for listening.
