New Fav snacks to curve ice cream craving

So being that it's the hotter months now I crave ice cream all the time. But someone at work suggested to me to take frozen blueberries and fat free coolwhip and mix it together in a bowl and eat...it's delicious:) Also, I tried the same thing with frozen orange slices and yummm.

Just thought I'd share with everyone incase they get a frosty cravy.

OOh, I have one. It's a thick, filling milkshake - yum. And you can make it whatever flavor you want.

Take 1 cup of milk, 4 ice cubes, and 1 tablespoon of sugar or sweetener (I use equal). Throw it in the food processor.

That's the base. Then you add whatever you want. I've used bananas or strawberries or cherries. Sometimes I throw in instant coffee or cocoa powder (1 tablespoon). Sometimes both at once for a mocha, and once I made a banana-chocolate shake. You can get as creative as you want.

Then you just turn on the machine and let it run until all the ice chunks are gone and it's gotten thick. It gets so thick that it ends up filling two 16 ounce glasses.

Just in case you didn't know this already...there is a wonderful ice cream called skinny cow and they are low in calories. I think they are 100 calories each. Also, the weight watchers ice creams are delicious and low as well. I'm not sure what program you are on but with ww...the skinny cows are only 2 points and the ww ice creams are 1 or 2 points! ;)

I've been eating this for breakfast for the past week

In the blender
About half a cup frozen pineapple, mango, peaches (I froze it in small baggies from a commercial size can. It was in a light syrup and it would be better if I had drained it.) -
half a banana
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
6-8 fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, fresh cherries - pitted)
sometimes 1-2 TBS pomegranate juice
1 cup crushed ice

I try to get the frozen fruit out a little ahead of time so it's not rock hard.

Very good and very thick.

For the past week I've been basically living on slightly frozen chunks of honeydews and cantaloupes. :)

And I've been experimenting with throwing together my own "frozen yogurt parfait" -

The base is:

1/2 banana (sliced)
1/2 cup yogurt (I use Trader Joe's European Nonfat Plain)

Adding the banana is important because the yogurt on its own gets way too hard when frozen solid.

Then I add stuff like

1/4 cup frozen blueberries and/or
1 TBS unsweetened shredded coconut and/or
1 TBS sugar-free flavored syrup and/or
1/4 cup cereal and/or
1 TBS peanut butter...

Endless possibilities!

I mix (not blend) it all in a small container and either let it freeze until solid, then cut it into slices, or let it freeze partially and have it as a kind of slushy.
