starting over yet again.....

Hi,

I don't know what happened. I was doing really well, and had lost nearly fifteen pounds since the beginning of the year. Last month I had the WORST PMS/TOM and ate way too much (of all the wrong foods) Instead of going back on plan, I just slid down into that "I don't care anymore, this is impossible anyway" thinking. I've been off plan for a month.

I'm not sure how much damage I've done, because I've started TOM again. I guess I'll wait until it's over to brave the scale again.

I started back again this morning. I'm so mad at myself for undoing some weight loss, but better to start back now than to gain it all back plus more, right?

Thanks for listening,
Sherry

Sherry -

If it's hard to start the first time, it's 50x harder to start over if only because we're carrying a little guilt and shame with us.

Plenty of us have fallen off and gotten back on. As long as we keep getting back on and marching forward!

It's fantastic that you're getting back into the groove of things today. You can do this!

Sherry,

I so with your girl! I was doing so awesome... then I had a trip to my MIL's. I haven't been able to get my groove back.
This morning I breakfast meant for a 12 year old: sugar crisp cereal with 2 slices of white toast w/ butter.

How does this happen? What can we do to get back on track? Why do we do this to ourselves?
I'm not a fan of Oprah - but I know she has spoke about "it's not about the food" - then what? grrr

Sherry
I'm in a bit of danger of the same thing happening to me too right now.
I'm struggling not to fall off the wagon, hanging on by my fingertips.

I'm so proud of you for catching it quickly, and getting your butt back here where you belong

We can do this!
:cheer2:
Linda

Sherry-

It's so easy to put on those pounds, isn't it, :( and then add in some guilt, and you have yourself a pity party. Don't let it get to you, and just give up.

Well you are doing a great thing by getting yourself back on track, we all have been there, some of us go back often :o. See you made the decision to get back on track, and that is a Great Thing :carrot:

Just remember you are not alone , there are so many here, that can relate, and maybe offer you some help, and guidance. Hope you have a great week, and remember good or bad, keep yourself accountable, by writing everything down. :grouphug:

 You are back. That's one of the keys of being able to get this off is getting back up after you have a binge. (or a fall off the wagon moment.) If you can, try and write down what you were feeling, why you think you got off track so the next time it hits, you can look at some of those triggers and try to avoid them. (don't have that food near you, have a plan in place for your meals, etc.)

You can do this.

Congrats for getting back on track!!

"Fall seven times; stand up eight." (Japanese Proverb)

Keep going, use this as a learning experience and get going again. This is a lifelong process really, not something you do and move on from, it keps going through different phases.

:cheer: YOU CAN DO IT! This is not the end of the road, just the start of a new path on one long, winding road. :cheer:

 - Sweetie, we have all been there - multiple times LOL!
There is always another day and another try. It doesn't mean you failed. Failure would be stopping caring altogether.

Welcome back.

Sherry, thanks for posting this. I've been struggling for awhile now and I am determined that today will be better.... that I am back on track TODAY! I had a rough few months with being sick and awful weather (which is no excuse, because I have a treadmill... I just prefer to walk outside). It takes so long to get in a good routine and just minutes to get off track and do some backsliding. I've gained back so much of what I lost last year, I'm virtually starting over.

But, let's hang in there. What is the alternative??? I don't think there is one, we just have to keep trying day after day.

Sherry, I am so glad you came back. If anyone knows how hard it is to start over, again, it's me. I started over last Wednesday myself.

I know it's tempting to look back and ask why, but I think what we need to do is look forward. Formulate a plan and launch it in motion. Not I am going to try and stay on plan today, But I AM GOING TO STAY ON PLAN TODAY! How do I want to diet (or change my lifestyle) I chose counting calories - 1600 and Daily exercise. And then I added one more phrase...NO MATTER WHAT! That's the part that always gets me. This time I plan to stick to 1600 calories No Matter What. It's time to look forward and get it done!

WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

Good job for getting back on track! Better late than never right? Good luck!

Hey Suzie,

Just wanted to let you know that you are soooooo not alone, and the fact that you are here seeking support is the first step to getting back on track. I have lost the same 30lbs about 4 times now and always beat myself up that I have gained it all back. But I remind myself that I am now back on track and that as long as I don't go back to eating the old way, today will always be better than yesterday, no matter how slowly it comes off. I wish you the best of luck and know that if you put your mind to it, you can lose this weight for good!
;)

Thank you so very much, everyone!

I just get discouraged because I've been on this site for YEARS and still have not reached my goal. I'll get there someday, though!

Baby RN-your hair is gorgeous!!! I have curly hair also. May I ask if you use any products to enhance your curls? I'm on a never-ending quest to find the right products for my hair.

Sherry

I'm right there with ya. I figure I'm just more stubborn and it takes more times for me to try to get it right ;)
