Default How is this possible after being sick for 4 days?

Okay... so I'm not COMPLAINING... I'm just baffled.

Weigh in was this morningI lost 1.6 pounds this week (yay for me!)

However... I'm kinda upset that it wasn't more! (I know, I know, every loss is a good loss).

But I was VIOLENTLY ill since Saturday afternoon... I would eat something, it would go through me in an hour. I spent four days straight on the toilet, nearly every 2 hours. And I tried keeping with the diet and didn't overeat and didn't really undereat too much either, despite the bathroom woes.

So during the whole thing, as miserable as I was, I'm thinking "hey, at least the number on the scale will be nice to look at!"

I would have lost 1.6 pounds irregardless of the sickness--- I've been losing appx 2 pounds every week while I've been dieting.

So why the small loss even though nothing stayed put too long?? ugh...

Gross, I know- sorry!

Yeah, you'd think for all that suffering, you'd get *some* benefit, huh?

The problem is that loss just isn't linear. That calorie deficit might show up tomorrow or *next* week. Or it might not show up at all.

And sick is .. well ... weird. When you're sick sometimes your body hoards calories and fat, even though you can't keep anything you eat down or in ... your body knows it and says "whoa ... gotta stock up here ... defense mechanisms kicking in!"

Mostly this biology thing sucks! I wish it were all one big mathematical formula that I could calculate and track. It'd make my life soooooo much easier.

Yeah... our bodies are strange little organic squishy things.

Same as Photo said. Weight loss isn't linear, and when we're sick our bodies are even stranger.

Now then. 1.6 is a good loss. No matter what! So congrats on losing this week!

A loss based on bathroom woes is probably going to be dehydration anyway. It would probably be more depressing to get a great loss and then watch it come back as you get some fluids back into you.

The 1.6 is real and still a great loss.

thanks guys--- that's what I figured, if my body is acting weird when it's sick, who knows what other ways it's acting weird. I'm thinking that it SENSED how many calories/nutrition it was losing so often and held on tight. Ah well.

And yeah, I was worried about dehydration so I definitely made sure to keep up on my fluids b/c I didn't want it to be just water loss.

Hmph. Just needed to vent. Thanks ladies.

I was really ill for 2 days and lost 6 pounds. Unfortunately, I gained them all back the next 2-3 days when I started eating again, as it was all water weight. I too was hoping there would be some reward for being sick.
