I thought I was 5'8"

I was recently measured and the nurse said I was 5' 7". I didn't pay any attention because I thought I was
5' 8". I measured myself this morning and she was right. That is disappointing now I won't be a normal weight until 158 instead of 164. Oh well, wanted to get down to 150 anyways.:carrot::carrot:

That must be really aggravating!

Most people shrink in height -- alas, not in weight -- as they age, women more than men. On average, "shrinking" starts around age 40 and accelerates as we get older. As with most such things, though, the age of onset and pace of shrinking varies from person to person, depending on weight, fitness, amount of daily stress on the joints, diet, and just plain ol' genetics.

Of course, it could just be that the doctor's measuring stick is broken, or that you had a, um, generous nurse before and a stickler this time.

I am sorry you aren't as tall as you thought. For ever I said I was 5 foot tall. I knew I was there abouts. lol. I went with my daughter to the doc and we both were measured, she couldn't wait to get taller than I was. I said about 5 foot right! The doc laughed and said ummm ya sure as soon as you get to heaven. I am a little over 4 foot 11, might as well not fight it. My daughter of course was happy, SHE is 5 foot tall.

I hope I haven't shrunk One whole inch in 6 years. Oh well, can't control it at least I can control my weight now that I have the know how to do so.

Not all measurements are made equal....I am 28 and from 21 to now I have had so many different measurements someone even accused me of being 5'5. Most of the measurements said 5'8 some 5'7 so to me I am 5'8.

I know you measured yourself too but just go with 5'8 if that is what makes you happy.

Hey, if we can create our own realities, can I be 162 pounds even though the scale says 217? It would make me happy.

I lost half an inch of height the other time I lost a bunch of weight. My doctor says that people can carry a surprising amount of fat in their feet and that can account for some of it. I also lost a shoe size so I figured he was probably right.

I would LOVE to be 5'7 or 5'8 - heck I would take 5'4 or 5'5! I say I'm 5'3, but I think I may be shrinking a little. You have a great attitude!

For Your Information :
The foot is one of the parts of the body that never stops growing.

Along with your nose and ears!

I always thought I was 5'4 exactly, or 163 cm. Nope, 162. I was very disappointed. I can't imagine losing an inch, though. Are you 5'7 exactly or leaning towards 5'8, because I would totally round up!

Archy
I knew there were a couple of other parts but didn't remember what they were. Does that mean, by the time I am an old lady, I won't wear a size 2 shoe anymore and it will be easier to find shoes? lol.

I'm right there with you..I have ALWAYS been 5'6, then recently, I was measured at the Doctors - 5'5. Not like my BMI wasn't bad enough, now I'm shorter!!! Didn't make me happy at all!!!
