Default it kind of terrifies me

if someone had told me on the day in 2005 that i bought those size 26 white denim pants, that on 9/11/07 i would put on a size 12 skirt and it would fit... i would a) not believe them or b) cry at the thought that one day i'd be 'so small'.

but today, looking in the mirror, i feel fat. i dont feel like a girl who's lost weight. i dont feel like anythings different. i feel like i have soooo far to go. but if you had asked me in 2005, i would have given anything to be a 'size 12'.

this terrifies me. am i ever going to feel 'normal'? what if its never enough? what if i always see a fat girl in the mirror?

sorry guys, im just feeling funky today.

I think part of the problem is that when you're really heavy you try very hard not to look too closely in a mirror at all. So when you slim down and start paying real attention to your body, you start to judge it a little more harshly. I think your mind needs a little time to catch up.

Not sure if that makes any sense but I'm feeling a little funky today myself.

Someone once told me that it takes your brain alot longer to catch up with your body. especially if you have been "big" most of your life

I can't even imagine what you're feeling, but I like to think that Daphne and Robin are right...eventually your mind will catch up with the changes in your body and you will feel normal.

I think when we are overweight, we tend to numb outselves to the mirror - after all if we took a close look at all the bulk, I think we would just spend the day on the floor crying!!

You are finally allowing yourself to view you as a "person". You have a shape, a style, etc. You probably arent' hiding under oversized shirts anymore and avoiding clothes shopping because it is too depressing.

Even when I was a size 10 to 12 -- I still felt overweight -- if I had only known what I know now -- this is overweight!!!

Take time, you'll get used to it -- you have worked so hard and now the attention is back on "you" not what you need to do to get there.

Congratulations!!!

I have read that there are people who are fat, and who think they are fat...... I think when people are overweight for such a long time, they are so used to seeing fat, and hearing fat, that it takes a long time to think they are thinner.
I am sorry you are in such a funk . But a size 12 skirt!!!! Wow that is amazing!!! Cheryl

I definitely think it has to do with being more aware and more intune with our bodies, and therefore even more critical, as I've felt the very same way as you.

You've done so very, VERY well. Give it time, you'll start to appreciate the new and improved you. Keep up the good work. Just keep it up.
