Eat-Clean Diet: Recommended Foods List
The Eat-Clean Diet is all about eating unprocessed foods found naturally on earth, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, lean meats and sprouted grains. If it came from the ground, as opposed to a factory, and isn’t high in refined sugars and saturated fats, it’s most likely okay to include in your diet. The Eat-Clean Diet lists a dozen top “superfoods” for you to include in your diet. Superfoods are those foods that contain an abundance of nutritional elements you need for overall health and wellness. Here are some of the foods recommended by the Eat-Clean Diet.
No surprises here. This popular green vegetable contains more vitamin C than a glass of orange juice and is high in calcium. Even better, broccoli contains about seven grams of fiber. At about 30 calories per 1 1/2 cup serving, you can fill half your plate with the vegetable and still only consume about 60 calories.
Berries are loaded with all kinds of nutrients needed for good health. They’re high in disease-fighting antioxidants and are also great sources of vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and fiber. These tiny fruits are also low in calories–a one-cup serving contains about 30 calories. It’s easy to find ways to squeeze berries into meals throughout your day. You can add them to oatmeal in the morning or throw them on a salad for lunch. They’re also great to eat with a small handful of almonds as a snack. While all types of berries are superfoods, wild blueberries are your best bet.
Oatmeal is a great source of complex carbohydrates. Start your day off with a bowl of oatmeal and you’ll stabilize your blood sugar. Since it’s a whole grain, it’s rich in fiber and plant protein, which the Eat-Clean Diet book identifies as being essential for building muscle. The Eat-Clean Diet book also points out that it’s one of the few foods high in silicon, a mineral responsible for building healthier bones, teeth hair and skin. In terms of breakfast choices, you’re much better off eating a bowl of oatmeal than you are a sugary bowl of cereal.
4. Wild Salmon
Wild Salmon is known for being a great source of essential fatty acids, EFAs, which are responsible for keeping your body tissue healthy and from becoming inflamed. It’s also a great source of protein and is low in saturated fat. The Eat-Clean Diet recommends eating wild salmon as opposed to farm raised salmon because it contains fewer growth hormones.
Bison is not a conventional meat, but it’s recommended in the Eat-Clean Diet as a replacement red meat. It’s an excellent source of protein and is low in saturated fat. Since it isn’t widely popular like ground beef, it doesn’t contain growth hormones.
These are only a few of the foods recommended by the Eat-Clean Diet. Filling your fridge and pantry with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats will ensure you’re eating only the foods you should be. Leave the pre-packaged snacks and junk foods at the grocery store.
