As soon as the tea touches the hot water the antioxidants will start blending with oxygen, and the tea will start losing the antioxidants. It takes a few hours for all the antioxidants to bond with the oxygen particles.
Drink your tea before it starts to lose all of its antioxidants. It is best to drink tea when it is hot, that way it still has a good amount of antioxidants. You will notice when your tea has no antioxidants, because when you sip your tea it will have a feeling of astringency or a metallic taste to it. For this reason tea should not be kept steeping for longer periods of time since it might lose all of its antioxidants.
