If sarcasam and wit could burn calories I would look like Nicole Richie.

Kicked binging, kicked the diet mentality - now I have to fight myself to even eat. October 5, 2008

Okay, I realize that many of you have followed my posts about basically losing my mind and not thinking that I could do this. So here is my current dilemma.

The first week of dieting is easy. You are so engulfed in figuring out new things you can eat, the excitement and hope of losing that first few pounds, that you can just cruise through it.
The second week is brutal. Just brutal. You begin to notice the changes in your body and that is cool but you begin to notice how much food is shoved in your face, how much you miss the bag of doritos at night while watching TV.
You might cheat in the coming weeks, but it gets easier. Meaning that you are finally accepting this as a life style change.

Now - two months into this and twenty-five pounds gone -Well, I have hit something kind of weird. Since I threw my back out - about 2.5 weeks ago - working out has been excruciating. I have stuck with tai chi - which i love. It was easier when I was doing these massive work outs.

But I am so far away from hungry I am beginning to kind of spazz. I used to go over, and over and over on my calories but now I am lucky if I even hit my already low goal. I’m not dizzy, not famished, just not hungry. Everything is totally unappetizing. The chick who used to love food loathes it.

How do you force yourself to eat, when you aren’t hungry, without losing your mentality that you are just eating to survive?

Has anyone else hit this and how do they overcome this? How the crap do I get hungry?

Hey there, sista. I totally know what you mean.. I’ve been at this for about two months now, and I’m having troubles eating enough, too. My boss at work made an interesting analogy.. “Sometimes, feeding yourself is like putting gas in your car.” Which makes sense. Especially if we’re exercising, burning those calories, and want to stay nourished. So even if we don’t feel like it, we have to grab that broccoli, or a handful of almonds, because after so much hard work, the last thing we need is our bodies to go into desperation, starvation, STORING mode. That’s counterproductive.
Be happy that although you’re not really craving anything, at least you’re not craving rich, fatty foods that would wreck your fantastic progress, and drive the skinny bitch inside you insane. Let that skinny bitch out!!!

Ummmm, I’m definitely not there. Lots and lots of things are absolutely appetizing to me still. OMG I wish I could be where you are!

I do feel less hungry and I do feel fuller quicker. But I can’t imagine loathing food, ever. Must-a-be-nice!

Hmmm…be careful Girlie… It could be your stomach is shrinking and it is a normal thing… Or…you could be experiencing Beta Endorphin rushes from not eating… For me…as a Sugar Sensitive person (which I have no idea if you are or not) if I don’t eat my body produces lovely Beta Endorphin (same thing they talk about known as “runner’s high) and I feel awesome…strong…lean…and confident…also known as a “starvation high” I have never been there but I assume that is a bit of what anorexics feel that gets them into even more trouble…please keep up your minimum calorie levels…maybe it will pass when you are able to get more strenuous workout in?
    I love Tai Chi too!

P.S. Great hamster pic…looks like my DD old hamster…we loved her very much…

What Ravengirl said. I also experience less appetite for food once I get off all my triggers and see just how much *plain food* I need to eat. But, my body will not be happy (or lose and be healthy) if I don’t eat, so - I do. Do your journal your feelings and what you eat? Physical/emotional as well as strength/weakeness indicators looked at over time can be a clue to what foods are affecting you how. Delita

I still check your space here every few days. No guilt trip, just wanted to let you know you’re not forgotten…

…and wanted to wish you happy holidays. =D
