I completed phase 1. My current weight is 151! I lost more weight than I expected. I am very pleased with SB.

Day 9 of phase 1

Week one left me with a total 4lbs loss and almost a pants size down. Yesterday and today have left me without much of an appetite. I have a cold. I didn’t exercise yesterday. Eating all meals and snacks is a very important part of SB. I had to make myself eat breakfast. I haven’t been eating enough veggies. I have probably only taken in around 1/4 the amount of veggies I need. I need to go grocery shopping. I am running low on veggie options. I had plans for yesterday and today. I think I will skip those. I am going to make myself go for a walk this afternoon.

I finally saw the scales budge. I was disappointed to see the scales read 158 after being on the diet for 3 days. I had my hopes up after reading all the stories of people losing several pounds within the first couple of days. Even though the scales had not moved, I was seeing a big difference in my clothing, my snug jeans began to fit again. Yesterday, I weighed myself and I was down to 156. This morning, I weighed 154! Seeing the actual number change is exciting. I have lost 4lbs in six days. The diet is easier to follow that I thought it would be. I really have not craved sweets and carbs as I thought I would. Replacing those things with foods my body needs has made a huge difference. I DID dream about eating Cheez-its last night. LOL! I don’t even eat those things really. I have been tempted with cheesecake. I had it on my finger after cutting slices for my kids and husband. I rinsed my hand off and went on. I had two bites of low fat/low sugar strawberry yogurt yesterday. I know that is a phase 1 no no.

Exercise: walked 3 miles

I weighed myself today, even though I had planned to wait until Monday. My weight hasn’t budged. I still weigh 158. Despite the steady number, I have noticed weight loss.

Day #3(phase1)

I have reached day #3.

Weight: 158/last weigh in on 9/20/10 (2 days ago)

I have not been hungry during the day, with the exception of just before dinner.  I had a late dinner, due to my husband’s work schedule.  We didn’t eat until 8pm.  I prefer to eat around 5-6pm.  We had stuffed lasagna bell peppers(recipe at bottom).  It was my first time to cook stuffed bell peppers.  They were wonderful!  We have church tonight.  I am not sure what we will have for dinner.  Our Wednesday evenings become very busy.  We usually have a simple meal(sandwiches) or eat at or before church.  We go to a fast food restaurant after Wednesday service with our churches youth group.  It will be a test for me.  If I eat before church, I can skip eating at the fast food restaurant.  South Beach Diet takes planning ahead.  I haven’t had any cravings, which is rare for me.  I love sweets and carbs.  I thought this diet would be a disaster for me.  Eating three meals and two snacks have helped.  This morning, I drove by a bagel shop and craved a bagel.  For just a moment, I craved a muffin.  Today was the only time and even then, the cravings were short lived.  I had a third piece of turkey bacon to get past the cravings.  It is more than the recommended two slices, but a better choice than a muffin or bagel.  I have not decided if I will walk today.  I am very tired and could use a little rest.  I have discovered when you don’t want to do something is probably when you need it the most.  When I really don’t want to walk and I push myself, I end up having more energy than the average day.  Laundry, dishes, cleaning…I want one giant nap.  I guess I should get off my tail and go for a walk!

Today is day #2 of South Beach Diet Phase 1.  I have not had a problem with hunger.  Having two snacks a day has helped.  Tonight’s dinner is lasagna stuffed bell peppers.  I found the recipe on 3fc in the SBD recipe section.  My husband is looking forward to the meal.  My current weight(as of yesterday) is 158.  I walked five miles today.  I haven’t been counting calories.  I just stick to the plan.  I haven’t been using the book’s recipes.  I have chosen recipes from 3FC.  I haven’t been eating enough veggies.  I made bean muffins and get a decent amount of veggies that way.  I can’t wait to weigh in on Monday!
