Loosin It… Again

My journey to the healthy side…

Yowsers… November 14, 2009

I can’t believe that it is already half way through November!  Time flies when you are having fun!  So Renee and I are back on the bandwagon.  Although truth be told, I am not really feeling very motivated.  I am behaving, but I am not being “good.”  It seems like I am always on a diet or being overly conscious of my eating around the holidays.  I guess that is a good thing, because if I went whole hog I would have a lot more weight to lose!

It has been a crazy week.  The car that I have been driving, our Tahoe had the heater coil go out.  Ended up iwth anti freeze ALL OVER the front carpet.  Took that it to get fix, decided to drive our minivan that has been sitting around collecting dust.  The brakes were seized, had to take THAT in.  Then DH goes to check on his daily commuter car, front end was shaking.  They tell him he needed all new tires, bearings, and shocks.  OMG… we have spent almost $3k at the mechanic this week.  And that doesn’t include MY car getting fixed.  My car sheared off an engine mount last winter and is still sitting in our driveway out of fear of the repair bill.  The problem with having tons of vehicles is that you have to maintain and fix tons of vehicles.

Okay… back to weight loss… So far I have lost 5 pounds in two weeks.  Sounds great, but in reality it is just getting rid of some water retention from being sick.  I know that I haven’t earned that loss.  Need to get busy so that I can get to a weight that I can live with.  I am also trying to revise my expectations to determine what that healthy weight is????  Have you asked yourself that?  The older I get the more I realize that my expectations to get back into size 6 pants are NOT gonna happen!  Time to figure out what size, shape, etc can I accept.  I THINK that the new target number is 150 and I would be THRILLED to be a size 12.  (If you told me 15 years ago that I would love to be that size, I would have told you that you were NUTS.)  But I think this tummy has been stretched to it’s max with two kids, too much fat, to go back to being small.

Well ladies… I hope everyone is doing well.  Miss you all….

I lost count of your cars, but OMG, $3k spent at the mechanics!!! Right now I’m glad we have only one car to deal with. Hope that streak ends!!

Yeh, I am going to shoot for the upper end of my height/weight range - 155, which just happens to be the weight on my drivers license. My college weight in the 120’s is not going to happen.

    Take care!

a loss is a loss, and 5 is a great number to start with.

I agree about the goal weight thing. Soon I will need to set one for myself. I am planning on going for the higher side of my range, because I still have to get through menopause and my fifties. Ya know? Plus, my friend that goes with me…the one who got me started on the WW meetings, is 5′7″ and set her goal for 130, which according to WW is the lowest allowable weight for her height. She has been able to maintain for 3 years, but I swear, every week she is complaining about only having 18 points to eat in a day. I am like, Camille, why did you set your goal so low? ( she is in her 50’s) and she is like….because I want to be skinny…and then I think, maybe she missed the whole point why she should lose the weight in the firs place.
