Alright. Another low-carb (ish) day. A long hard walk around the high school track. Early to bed. This has been a good day.

April 29th, 2009

I am going to miss pilates class tonight because I have to work late, so I will have to do something on my own. 3rd day low-carb (again) and I am feeling better. I know I will slip a little - it is PMS week and chocolate is my drug of choice, after all.

I’m practicing low-carb but not logging it yet - I need these couple of days to detox, I think. This morning, I admit, I did have a mini muffin. I was at a breakfast meeting and I hadn’t had time to eat before I left the house, so just grabbed whatever was available. Good for me, though, I only had one!

To be honest, I have adjusted the ticker (up….grrrr). I blame the potatoes, beer, pancakes, homemade toast and spaghetti dinner…lol

The last was so charming though….recreating the dinner from “Lady & The Tramp”….I couldn’t say no.

It has been a bit of a whirlwind the last few weeks but the end of the month is looming and May 1 feels like a good day to get things back on track.

First: Cut out the french fries. Really, who am I kidding? I have had about a year’s worth of french fries the last few weekends. Ditto pancakes. Two weekends in a row, pancakes for breakfast. With maple syrup. I doubt you will find that recommended anywhere in the Atkins books!

Second: As tempting as it is to snuggle the weekend afternoons away, it does not burn energy or build muscle. Also it is not fair to the dog, who is looking forlorn and slightly pudgy as well.

Third: Remember vegetables?

So, May goals: Run 60 km, 27 of 31 days low-carb.  Yay me.

April 23rd, 2009

Last night I went to my first pilates class. It was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be although there are a couple of moves I refuse to do, in the interests of protecting my back. I am hardly sore at all today.

It felt great, it was a kick in the butt to get moving again. I am going to take the dog for a long run tonight. This weekend is feeling like another lazy one hanging out with Sailorboy, which is a whole lot of fun but doesn’t allow for a lot of cardio, if you know what I mean. Great stretching opportunities, though….;)

——————–

It’s after 6pm so I am heading home, I am so hungry. I will stop by the store and pick up something to grill. It is a nice evening, and tomorrow will be nice too, then rain rain for the weekend. Yuck. Good weather for doing laundry.

April 21st, 2009

The last couple of weekends I have been pretty careless. I need to pay better attention, which will not be hard, I have just been lazy. Yesterday I did one of those one-day round trips to the big city, which entails getting on a plane at 6am and then flying back in the afternoon. Sounds way more ‘big-shot’ than it is…lol…and it is draining.

I have another 12 hour day ahead of me so I better get going!

I haven’t stepped on the scale since Fri and I will wait until tomorrow morning before checking. I am not optimistic.

April 17th, 2009

Well, I am not sure I believe it but the scale says down another 2.5 lbs. I will move the ticker, just in case, and see what happens over the weekend. I am wearing a dress that I couldn’t squeeze into at xmas, so something is happening.

This morning the dog was blue. We had a grocery store easter cake decorated to look like a blue bunny, and guess who hauled it out of the garbage and finished off the last of it? So the top of the dog’s head was blue - I guess the only part of his body he couldn’t lick…lol. Also the carpet, the white couch, the walls…I can see where he spends the night. As for me, I will be spending the evening shampooing my house.

(If I go to the marina NO FRENCH FRIES!)

April 15th, 2009

Long walk on a beautiful night. Stars everywhere and finally a bearable temperature. Love it.

April 14th, 2009

Yep, up 1.5 lbs. Now I know most of that is bloating from the sudden carb load, so I will NOT freak out, because I know that now that I am back to low-carb eating my body will adjust again over the next couple of days. All will be well….

One lesson (re)learned is that I cannot have baked goods in the house. It is way too easy to slip into a late night binge. Have to clear out the cupboards once Son #2 heads out. It could be as early as tomorrow, he should know his schedule today. Son #1 is in the middle of final exams and then he GRADUATES! Yay! He is planning to take another degree so it is not over yet, but at least we’ve reached this big milestone.

April 12th, 2009

This has been a great weekend and I am not going to get upset at all about the fact that the low-carb thing went by the wayside. I knew that was going to happen, I will deal with it and life will be back to normal tomorrow. In the meantime, I had a fantastic couple of days with a new guy, cooked a big dinner for my sons, and had a great 5km walk/run on a sunny springy afternoon. I am one happy camper and I will not get on the scale until tomorrow.
