A very emotional day. Yesterday my mom called me to her side because my grandmother, who has been dying for a long time, had a heart attack. I joined her at the hospital and we took Grandma home, knowing it was finally her end. She died this afternoon.  I spent a lot of time with her throughout my life and was fortunate to have her as long as we did. She was 97.

So I have had about an hour’s sleep since yesterday morning, driven about 700 km and am now waiting for my sons to arrive. It’s 12:45 am. I just ate about a 6″ square piece of chocolate cake and have finished my 4th martini tonight. And I don’t care too much about that. When my sons arrive, I will go to sleep and then process this all tomorrow.

As the man would say, Sela.

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. Even though it sounds like it wasn’t unexpected, death is always hard. Do the best you can in the days ahead and know that we’re here for you.

So sorry to read about your Grandmother passing. Death is always hard to take - expected or not. I am glad you got to spend time with her and that you have so many pleasant memories of her.

Hey, it was not such a big piece of cake, and martinis are good. I really love chocolate ones! Don’t be hard on yourself. Life happens. We do need some ways to cope and there are times when food and booze do far more than a treadmill will!

    Take care

I am so sorry to read about your Gran passing. That is just so hard. Do what you have to do, even if it means numbing yourself for tonight. Sleep well, dear lady….
