OMFG
November 2nd, 2009
The Halloween candy situation is not good. At all.
I had potato chips for dinner. Lots of them. And nothing else. Except diet coke.
I feel gross.
And I just registered for a &^#’ing half marathon on Jan. 24. That’s 13 weeks to train. For a long-ass race. In the dead of winter.
Pray for me. Or send more candy.
friday UPDATE
October 30th, 2009
Weight: 154.8
I wrote a thursday post and it is not here? wth? whatever. fresh start.
breakfast: coffee and coffee cake
lunch: turkey and spinach left over from dinner last night. Some canteloupe. I was doing good until DH got out the bag of Kettle chips and that was all she wrote. So add to my list: HANDFULS AND HANDFULS of Kettle chips. Followed by a single Reese’s cup.
dinner: will be pizza. We’re going to a Halloween party and pizza will be served. UPDATE: had two slices of veggie pizza and a cupcake. That’s it! Woot for me.
At least there will be some exercise tonight. DH and I have an hour and a half ballroom dance lesson, and then the party we are going to will involve dancing too.
No weighing or posting on the weekend. HAPPY HALLOWEEN CHICKS.

October 28th, 2009
weight: 155.0 — not as bad as I thought it would be. Though the somewhat “postive” weigh in was followed with a de ja vu round of my least favorite game: what to wear. You know that game, the one where I get dressed for work three different times, trying to find the perfect slacks/shirt comb to cover my pooch. It made me sad. I thought I was out of that game forever.
I knew I would be in the car for over three hours today and that fast food would be my lunch, so I did pack some snacks and avoided french fries. Baby steps.
breakfast: one slice of toast w/low fat peanut butter, one cup of coffee
lunch: BK grilled chicken sandwich, ziplock bag full of goldfish, granola bar, diet coke
snack: 100-cal bag of chocolate pretzels
dinner: green salad and an apple
My digestive system is paying for my nut-a-palooza last night. Ugh.
Kind of scaring myself
October 27th, 2009
I’ve been MIA from the 3fc blogosphere, and I think that has helped to keep me lethargic about logging my food and getting any exercise. No accountability! End result? Can’t button my fat ass into my jeans. Not exaggerating. So food log here I come (again). I haven’t weighed myself. Too afraid of what I will see. But tomorrow morning, I’ll be hitting the scales.
I’ve still been maintaining my general goofy all about nothing blog at SoNotZen.com and will probably try to keep this one devoted to diet and exercise, because I NEED THE ACCOUNTABILITY. Someone? Anyone? Please HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE. I obviously can’t do it myself.
Today is the first day that I made a conscious effort to EAT NO CRAP.
Breakfast: coffee at home, then DH surprised me by bringing home a latte when he dropped DD10 at school, so two coffees, one full of delicious fatteningness. No food.
Lunch: Lean Cuisine quesadilla, big garden salad, a yogurt, a diet coke.
I put smoked almonds on my salad. And they were so delicious that I proceeded to munch THE ENTIRE DAMNED CAN during the course of the evening. End result? STOMACHACHE.
Dinner: diet coke and a granola bar, six pringles from DD10’s lunch box as I was cleaning it out. The almonds in my stomach were screaming at me to just NOT EAT FOR A MINUTE FOR GOD’S SAKE.
Now I am drinking a big glass of water. To flush out the nuts. Ha, I said nuts.
MINI GOAL: No fast food on days when I am working from home. That should be simple. I’m sure it won’t be. But I’ve got to break the habit and it has to start somewhere.
I haven’t run since the Sausage Fest 5k in early September, but I have been dancing at least twice a week, sometimes three times per week, one hour classes, so that counts, a little bit. But it’s not burning the calories a run does. But I know myself, and I know that the first hint of being overwhelmed will cause me to bail, so exercise is on the back burner for at least another week while I try to get the food shit under CONTROL. Because I? Have been OUT of CONTROL with the food shit. Or the shit food. Either or.
You guys… I don’t want to be fat again. Fatter. I’m surely not thin, but I lost almost 40 pounds and it’s creeping back on. I really really really don’t want to gain that weight back.
Hi, Chicks. ‘Memba me?
September 23rd, 2009
I’m not dead. I’m just busy. And also? WAY WAY WAY off the wagon.
But, strangely, my weight is holding steady at 152.6 today.
I’ve been conscious of what I am eating, but that didn’t stop me from gorging on peanut M&Ms yesterday. But that was the exception, not the norm. I have had ZERO EXERCISE of any type except for dancing a couple of times. My last run was the last run that I posted here, which I am pretty sure was the 5k two weekends ago? Pretty sure. Yeah. I wasn’t joking when I sayd WAY WAY WAY off the wagon.
My house has been FSBO for about ten weeks now. Last week, we listed it on the MLS and had an EXPLOSION of interest and people coming to look. No offers yet, but I am hopeful. As a result, I’ve been super busy keeping things “show” ready on top of working. And DD10 is sick. Today is Wednesday and the last time she went to school was Friday. Stomach bug. ICK. So I’ve had that going on.
No excuse for not running at least a little bit. I’m not trying to justify. Just saying… I’ve been busy and I’ve been not motivated and the result has been a big fat bunch of zero exercise.
I wanted to check in while I have a free moment. And the moment? Is now over.
Don’t write me off yet, chicks! I’ll be back… I swear!
xoxo
run report
September 14th, 2009
I ran a 5k Saturday. I’d post a photo of my awesome shirt here, but for some reason I can no longer get photos onto this site. I used to be able to! It’s on facebook tho, so friend me if you haven’t already and you can see the jogging weenie shirt from the SAUSAGE FEST 5K. Yep. That’s right. SAUSAGE FEST.
The good news: finished the race and did not die.
The bad news: was purple when i finished the race and almost died.
Time: 37:03. Goal was 36:00.
I hit the 1 mile mark at 12:31, which was slow but. After that, there weren’t anymore mile markers! There was a guesstimate at halfway, which turned out to be wrong. Which freaked me out. Because I had been running for 21 minutes when someone says “you’re halfway!” UM? What? Thankfully they were wrong.
Not much to report. I ran. Slowly. The entire thing. Except for at the faux-halfway water station, where I walked long enough to drink my dixie cup of water, and then resumed the jog.
I was planning to start increasing my mileage to do a 10k in two weeks, but turns out the 10k is on the same day as DD10’s all day dance competition. So that’s out. But I am getting back on my training plan to increase my mileage. Problem is, I apparently need a hard and fixed goal in order to stay on track. So I’ll start scouting out other races.
Have a good week, Chicks!

weight: 154.8
Seriously.
And my weekend? Was not even that out of control.
PLAN: run three times this week, run four miles on the weekend — back on my training plan that I used for the half-marathon in June. Food needs to be reigned in for the week. NO MORE DAILY WEIGH INS. Monday morning and Friday morning. That’s it.
food: tba
exercise: rest day. running tues/weds/thurs, rest friday, four-miler saturday
friday
September 11th, 2009
weight: 152.6
breakfast: coffee and a granola bar
lunch/dinner: tba
exercise: Ran 2 miles and walked 1/4 mile. Plan was to run three miles, but my 3 mile route was the 2.25 that I did, plus three laps around the high school track, which is on the route. But, uh, duh, school is back in session, and the high school track? Was full of high schoolers. Yeah. No thanks. Ran two miles then walked the last 1/4 because I was so hot — supposed to hit 95 here today! — and needed to cool down before I got home rather than after I got home.
Foodwise, I met a friend for coffee before my run, drank the coffee, went on the run, then drank two big glasses of water and ate the granola bar.
The runner trainer that I had been working with in my running group swears that your muscles will do so much better if you eat 10g of protein within 20 minutes after a long run. So I found some South Beach peanut butter granola bars that have 10g of protein and that is my recovery food, just FYI, if it looks like I’m, like, living off of granola bars.

September 10th, 2009
weight: 152.6
food: tba UPDATE:
breakfast - coffee
lunch - one peanutbutter/choc chip bar from Starbucks, more coffee
snack - handful of sunflower seeds
dinner - tba UPDATE: two hot dogs, one bun, more chips than needed, half an apple.
exercise: UPDATE: Not happening. My upper body is still achey. Like a million push ups achey. WTH?
None yet. I am having A LOT of upper body soreness in my arms and shoulders. So weird. I have had this before when running on the treadmill. I must run really weird on the TM is all I can think of. I may go for a short jog this afternoon just to loosen up. Short, like ten minutes out, ten minutes back, just enough to stretch out. My legs feel a little achey but in a good way (know what I mean?) after yesterday’s run. I did a cool down walk but no stretching, so I’ll have to remember to stretch out after running tonight and tomorrow. I think I’ll be fine for Saturday’s 5k, though I certainly won’t be breaking any records.
Heading to the grocery store now. Where I will try to remember that EATING CRAP FOOD MAKES ME FAT AND BLOATED and stock up on healthy stuff. And coffee. And diet coke.
wednesday
September 9th, 2009
weight: 154.0 it’s amazing what NOT EATING A FAMILY SIZED BAG OF NACHO CHEESE DORITOS daily x three days can do for you. Downright amazing.
breakfast: 1 slice wheat toast with pbutter and a cup of coffee
LUNCH UPDATE: healthy choice entree, diet coke, had a bottle of water while running. 100-cal cookie pack.
DINNER UPDATE: small tilapia filet with veggie topping (Trader Joe’s), steamed squash and garden tomatoes. SO DELICIOUS, why don’t I cook every day? Oh, yeah, work. Crap.
exercise: leaving now for 45 minute violin lesson with DD10 and then dropping her off at school, followed by a trip to the gym to run 5k on the treadmill. I need to run inside and “control” what I’m doing. Planning on a slow mile, then a faster mile, then a slow mile, then a .1 mile sprint. Hoping for 36 minutes or under for the whole shebang.
RUN REPORT: Obstacle No. 1 — could not find my flipping gym card to go to the gym, so I decided to just park at DD10’s school, drop her off and then run. Obstacle No. 2 — as we are walking into the school, DD1 decides she HATES HER HAIR IN THIS HEADBAND and can’t go to school without a ponytail, so I had to take down MY ponytail and use the elastic in her hair. So now I couldn’t run because no ponytail. And not because I’m making a fashion statement but because my hair is long and I sweat profusely when I run and ick.
So I went home and decided to tear the house apart and find the blasted gym card (which I did). Got distracted and ended up sweeping and dusting the living room and dining room, polishing the table and buffet, loading the dishwasher and cleaning two bathrooms. THAT’S HOW MUCH I DID NOT WANT TO RUN.
Went to the gym, ran on the treadmill. Did not die, though my HRM was indicating that I would keel over at any second.
Mile 1 = 5.3 mph 30 SECOND WATER WALKING BREAK Mile 2 = 1st half at 5.6 mph, 2nd half at 5.3 mph 1 MINUTE WATER WALKING BREAK Mile 3 = 9 minutes at 5.0 mph, 1 minute at 5.3 mph, 1 minute at 5.6 mph and BOOM I was at 3.11 miles and DONE. 5k in 36:04. Not dead. Boo yah.
I am running in the 2nd annual SAUSAGE FEST 5K on Saturday. Only because (a) I want another sausage fest tee shirt complete with jogging sausage and (b) a friend is peer pressuring me into it. At least today proves I (a) won’t die (b) will finish and (c) will finish in less than an hour. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
UPDATE: Forgot to include that I walked .4 of a mile to cool down so my full mileage was 3.5 miles. Also did not mention that even after walking for eight minutes at a slow pace, my heart rate was still 135. Um, what exploding artery?
