Allegra?
June 15th, 2008
When I first started to feel crummy, I wrote it off as low calories and giving blood in the same day. But that was Thursday, now it’s Sunday, and I still feel kind of crummy. I switched from Claritin to Allegra for allergies last week on Tuesday. I wonder if that’s part of the problem? I felt really jittery this morning after my run, then really tired, and after a little rest I feel OK again. Hmmmm…. something to investigate. Anyone out there have an opinion on the no. 1 best way to deal with seasonal allergies? I’m dying over here.

If it is something that is a major problem for you every year, or especially if you have different things EVERY season that are problematic, I say get tested for allergy shots. My life was miserable before. I had a lot of fatigue and sinus infections and was on antibiotics constantly. I never knew what it was really like to breath through my nose for like the first 18 years of my life! I tried shots three different times. Finally, this time I was on them for a few years and able to go completely off of them and no longer need any meds except if I am around old cardboard boxes (maybe that is a dust mite issue?). Anyway, unfortunately shots are not a quick fix. It takes a long time to start really feeling the benefits but it is worth it if your allergies are bad enough. Good luck!

It could easily be the meds. I started taking a medicine last week and since then I’ve had itching and rashes, headaches and I’ve gained a few pounds. I thought it was all in my head but just googled the med and lo and behold, those are some of the major side effects. I won’t be on the drug for long so I’m just going to suck it up and live with it, but side effects are often real…
