Work… bah humbug
January 30th, 2008
I had to work today. This is only the third job I have done this month, so I really NEEDED to work, but, man, did it blow. It was an easy job and only lasted two hours, but I am so out of my work mode right now. I took off two weeks during the holidays, and then DD20 started school in January and I am on baby-duty from 3 - 9 pm five nights a week with the grandchild. So I had to turn down any jobs that would last all day and only go out on half day jobs. I had a decent amount of work scheduled, but had four or five last minute cancellations.
Back to the point here… I have been lazing around the house on my ass all month and now I have to actually work and I don’t like it! Lazing = good, work = bad. I actually did a huge amount of volunteering at Princess’ school this month, which has been a lot of fun, so it hasn’t been complete lazing.
On the bright side, being busy helps me stay on my food program because I don’t have time to snack and I don’t have time to really prepare anything for myself other than my JC meals, which are oh so convenient. I had the fish and chips tonight, and that is one of my favorites. It’s really tasty. I had an excellent day food wise.
We did a lot of eating out over the weekend and I really feel like my food is under control. I like that feeling. I am the master of my domain! My only weak spot has been chips and salsa. We ate Mexican food twice over the weekend and both times I went overboard on the chips and salsa. The salsa is a free food on JC, so that’s a nonissue, but I need to get my chip eating under control. Other than that, I did great ordering healthy options, no heavy sauces, nothing too cheesy.
I have to work ALL DAY tomorrow, off Thursday and then ALL DAY Friday. I know I sound like a major whiner complaining about working ALL DAY, but being a court reporter is actually quite demanding physically. When I put in an eight hour day, my neck and shoulders kill me. And after two hours sitting in the same position in a usually uncomfortable chair, I start squirming like I have ants in my pants. And forget about getting all of my water in on those days because then I’d have to pee and peeing is not allowed. Well, peeing is allowed, but only on a limited basis.
So, woe is me as I rejoin the rat race. Maybe I will find a bag of money in the gutter tomorrow, enough to carry me for another month of lazing. And there will be chocolate in the bottom of the money bag, and it’ll be fat free and calorie free but still taste like real chocolate.
