Portuguese Sweet Bread

It’s 19° but there is still frost on the cars. I suppose that’s because everything was melting yesterday - lot of moisture in the air.

It was such a nice Tawnya day. I worked out and completed two projects. I have 12 other things on my “Long Term” list and two on my “Immediate” list. But enough about that. I don’t want to stress out.

One of my projects was to go through my recipe box and put them into a photo album so I could just flip pages. I came across a recipe for Portuguese Sweet Bread. I HAD to make it. :) Sweetie doesn’t care for nutmeg, and that was the spice that it called for, but I used a mix of Chinese sweet spices instead - anise, clove, cinnamon, ginger… It turned out beautifully. :) Tasty. The recipe called for eggs and yeast - I was somewhat surprised. I haven’t heard about doing that, but then again, I’m a new cook. I took a few photos of it, but they turned out blurry. The only one that didn’t turn out bad, was the image of the bread in the pan yet. LOL… Next time!

My workout was awesome. I did aerobics for 1/2 hour. Super sweaty and fast heart rate. Loud music. I felt awesome! Although we have Sirius, I am going to purchase some techno CD’s so I can bring them down stairs to work out to. The antennae for Sirius is on the roof and we need to plug that in, so it won’t work to bring it down.

Today I work both jobs again and I’m going to be online searching for some of those CD’s and Rainforest DVDs… educational stuff. I also need to wash the dog and file a bit. :) I need to prepare cabbage soup in the crock pot for tonight also. I don’t know if I am going to work out or not. I have all sorts of little tasks to complete.

Oh what the heck - here’s the bread in the pan. LOL

  2. Yeh, baking bread is one of the all-time great smells. :)

We have a 3-ring binder of recipes that we like, but I also have a box full of recipes torn from magazines & papers and printed from the internet that I don’t have a hope in heck of ever using even a tiny a fraction of. Another paper purging project. The good thing is that I don’t accumulate nearly as many as I used to!

Sounds like you had a great Tawnya day!
