Young Venison
Extremely hazy and peaceful morning here. I was up until after midnight with Sweetie, cleaning deer meat. I woke up late this morning, hence the late post.
Weigh-in was okay this morning. Again, “okay”. Food was on the healthier side than it has been, although I ate some chocolate and a date filled wrap, which is a cookie.
Before bed I was nauseated and didn’t want to eat so late, so I just munched on some graham crackers. Frozen yogurt didn’t appeal to me at all—too much sugar. I ate a Runza around 7 pm. Nothing on the side, but I had a little ketchup with it. They turned out fantastic. Since I make them alone, it takes me 3 hours from start to pulling out of the oven. They are time consuming, but worth it. I froze six—that will be 3 more meals for the King and I.
Next time I’ll use venison! Hah!
I feel like laying on the couch and sleeping all day but that throws me off worse than staying up late. I will just stay busy until work. This week, hours will be different because of the holidays. I have Thursday and Friday off! Saturday I am going to Mum’s to help her set up her eMachine she purchased at Micro Center. This was her first computer that she made decisions on. I have been maintaining her stuff and giving her hand-me-downs. I’m so excited for her. She purchased the new 2007 MS Word so she could write “in-style” haha…. It was on sale so I encouraged her to get it. Three licenses come with the software now. I think Micro$oft is nice to go that route, but Linux is still better.
I also picked out a monitor to start saving for. It’s an Acer 24”. Acer now owns Gateway. Before Acer purchased Gateway, Gateway purchased eMachines, so Acer owns eMachines now also. Mum felt good about the eMachine because she’s been on her Gateway for 10 years. Manufacture quality changes through the years, however. I hope for the best of course. My laptop is Acer and I’m in love. The manufacturing hierarchy is as follows: Dell, HP, then Acer. So that’s that. I liked a Dell we looked at, but I just built my computer several months ago so I’m set. I just need a new monitor. Until then, Mum is giving me back the stuff I originally passed down to her. Okay, back to the deer.
I’m very excited about the young deer that Ed got. I haven’t had venison since I was a teen and I didn’t care for the meat then. I wonder if I didn’t like how it was prepared. I’ve been reading online that it’s a lean meat, so I really want to like it! Sweetie said that we have enough for at least 50 meals from it. We tossed the front legs because he shot so many times through the shoulders (and the deer kept running!) Tonight we’re having left over veggie lasagna with venison tenderloins. I hope they are as good as they sound. OH! And my Sweetie said that he loved the skinning knife I got him for his birthday! I’m putting a photo up, but I’ll link it. Some people are sensitive to this sort of thing. I loved seeing how the knife worked.
All right, I’m going to start house duties and maybe treadmill or bike today. The idea is there, but who knows what I’ll do. Routines don’t seem to stick right now. Not beating myself up for that one either!

I’ve never had venison before
Have a great week!! Happy early Thanksgiving!
I’m not much for venison, but I do love elk meat. Anyhow, now you have plenty to eat–good news there. I decided that for Christmas gifts this year, I am sending every person on my list a book picked out just for them. It’s a lot tougher than I thought and most of the books can be had for under $20 on Amazon. If you have someone in your family, however, who is into photography or art, it can be a bit more expensive, but I think it’s still cheaper that sending gift cards or gifts that might not appeal.
I had venison once I think and I didn’t like it. I’m a HUGE chicken eater. I could eat chicken for every meal any day of the week =P
Knife looks really good. I don’t know much about it but it looks like it slices much like a knife through warmed butter =D
Enjoy the day!
