New Venture Brewing
It’s 39 degrees. That sounds wonderful for a walk. Every day is nice for walk. Maybe if I keep saying it, I will get out and walk. I just requested Phantom of the Opera audio CD from the local library. It will be my 4th time renting it. I enjoy it and I might just purchase my very own copy one day.
My Weekend. I didn’t post on the weekend and I usually do because I don’t like recapping the details. I’ll just talk about the exciting points.
Albertville Mall: (ate before I left and dinner at home) My main purpose was to gather info on the KitchenAid pasta maker attachment. I learned I have two options, but think I will pass. However, I did purchase a baking stone. I also purchased a Pyrex custard cup to go with my set. I had 4, and I don’t know what happened to the other one. The new one doesn’t have the measurements printed on it like my others. Anyways, we used it for pizza for dinner that night. It seems that we had to bake it much longer than we would have on an aluminum pan—and we didn’t fully preheat it. (I guess the Pampered Chef brand doesn’t need preheating, according to my brother.) The directions said not to season it either. Whatever.
So on Sunday, I made cookies! I am learning to use my silicone baking mats along with the baking stone. Silicone retains heat to a higher degree, so my cookies finish sooner than if they were on the aluminum. I spread Crisco on the stone to season it this time. It worked fabulous, but takes longer than my aluminum sheets. Both appear beautiful in the end. I also was able to use my new cookie baller that I picked up. It worked perfectly to help me keep cookies even in size.
After baking, we ran our bags of yard waste to the local compost. When we returned, I started the chuck roast dinner. It took much longer than the recipe stated, so I put together the ingredients for making Bruschetta to put on a spinach wrap as an appetizer for each of us. After we ate dinner, we watched Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaur. Ed got into the shower after and in the meantime, I read on making pasta by hand in Martha Stewart’s Cooking School book. My next large task in the kitchen will be to make pasta by hand. I do not need anything but a rolling pin. I like it. OH! And I decided that I will make cheesecake soon. I have a springform pan that I want to try out.
Weight fluctuated up. What do I expect after eating cookies and candy?! I’m not in a hurry to lose anymore, so I’ll just keep going easy with my phases through life.
Today is running errands and possibly start the pasta before work. I plan on taking photos of my pasta process. I’m sure my next entries will obsess on that topic until I am satisfied with results. So be prepared…and maybe inspired by my clumsy endeavor! HAH! Lol This is where I sign off. CreativeMe signing off.

I have never made homemade pasta….I will be awaiting your reports and pics of your masterpieces!
I have a word of advice for your cheesecake….do not overbeat the eggs when you put them in. It will cause the cheesecake to crack when you put it in the fridge. Good luck though….mmmmmm….cheesecake, yum. haven’t made one in YEARS!
I’ve often thought about trying the silicone baking mats. The pasta maker sounds like great fun!
