Garden Froze
It’s 39 degrees this morning. The garden underwent a hard frost. I doubt anything survived, but I’ll go look today. I think it’s only going to get into the 50’s. No wind. No breeze even. I’m dressing warm. I didn’t dress warm enough yesterday. I think a turtleneck today!
Well, I worked out yesterday! 15 minutes on the treadmill, 5 on the bike and then 10 minutes of light weight lifting. I did a few sit ups. All of the lifting left me sore today. I’m going to skip working out today and do it again tomorrow. I want to slowly get back into it. I don’t want to kill myself over it.
Food was ok. I ate Cheerios and almond milk, which is normal for me. Then I had ham and swiss cheese on two pieces of bread. I got the runs. I don’t get it. Was the ham or swiss too rich? I dunno. Guess it’s graham crackers and yogurt for lunch today. Dinner was ½ pork chop, potatoes and sour kraut with a dollop of lite sour cream. That stayed well.
I worked a little more on my skirt, but I’m itching to start the project with my denim. I think it’s going to fit fine. I don’t really know of any adjustments I would make to the pattern. It looks very nice on my dress form.
I made a couple calls on that darn knob for my serger machine. I DO NOT want to take it up to the dealer because they’ll charge me 90 bucks to send it out to their service department for 1 knob. I called ElnaUSA and asked them to send me a knob. They wouldn’t. I called a local guy, who serviced my other machine, and he said that to bring it in to him to see if he could figure something out. He let me know that he wouldn’t charge me a dime if he couldn’t, but he was confident that he could. I told him that ANY knob would do. LOL If he isn’t able to find something or work something out, I asked Ed if he’d weld a little metal lever for me.
I wonder if the extra metal weight would effect the timing on the machine. Anyways, I pick my serger up tomorrow and I’m going to cross my fingers.
TOMORROW NIGHT IS PROJECT RUNWAY. That’s a note for myself. I know that everyone else in America knows. I’m trying to remember. I have wanted to watch it the past two Thursdays and forgot when it came time.
Today is sewing, baking (apple pie or cobbler), both jobs and pizza for dinner. I’m getting the itch to go antiquing. I have seen some very pretty lace and buttons in previous stores. Plus I like old containers, mirrors and other tools. Soon, that will come soon. Gotta go shower now. It’s so cold in the house that my joints hurt. I’d turn on the heat, but I won’t need it later. I use a $5 shop-lite from Menards that has a 300 watt in it. It warms the entire sewing room right up like a fireplace.
Tawnya signing off.

Are you lactose intolerant? Maybe the cheese makes your tummy not happy and causes you to frequent the potty? MM… apple pie and pizza. Can I come to your house for the day?
Brrr! I better take my potted plants indoors and pick the last of the tomatoes. Enjoy working on your skirt. I would get impatient sewing the whole thing in muslin before doing it all over again in your fabric of choice - but you’re ensuring the proper fit and learn how to deal with the more difficult parts. Meant to mention that I went to the Vogue fabrics store once in Evanston, IL, ages ago. Way before “online” was in our vocabulary.
Re the pedometer - If you know the distance you walk in 15 min and measure your normal stride (# of steps per x number of feet), you can come up w/ steps. Easier to let the pedometer do it for you!
My exercise goal w/ the insurance co. “coach” is 3 times per week, 30 min. I’d like to do the 3 x/wk on a consistent basis. I don’t think getting 30 min. each session is a problem.
If I can do piping, you can certainly do it, very easy. Muffin pincushion sounds cute. Muffin, strawberry, cobbler, pizza - I’m getting hungry!!
It nice you have your sewing/art room all to yourself - you can decorate to your heart’s desire! We already have the major items in our guest room that are more middle of the road (leaning towards masculine) - area rug and daybed w/ cover. It does need finishing touches, so I can work with that…
sorry about the freeze.
good job on the workout - keep it up girlfriend
