Canoe Today
I LOVE this quote this morning by Kim McMillen: “When I loved myself enough I exhausting myself by trying so hard.” That is a wonderful thought. I guess when I have said in the past, “that’s it and I quit this behavior!” I’m just giving myself a reasonable break. What a good decision.
Okay, so it’s 8 AM and 50 degrees in MN. I made it through my garbage yesterday, but decided that it was important to write immediately upon waking up, as usual, for today.
I weighed in at 150.2 this morning. Better than 150.8. Ed is watching Joel Osteen as I try to write this morning and I just can’t focus. It’s putting me a little on edge because I want to write and get settled in my mind.
So for dinner last night, I wanted to make something healthy but Ed wanted to go to the Mexican restaurant that’s down the street. They really do have the best Mexican food that I have ever eaten. So, we went there and overate. We were both so full and didn’t have dessert but he joked about going to DQ. Insanity. We ran to our small town grocer and picked up lunch items for him and rice wine vinegar for me. I also picked up some Almond Breeze milk because I had an “episode” after drinking 2%. I think there is just to much fat and sugar in cow’s milk for my body. I love 2% though. O’well, I’m going to just have to stick to what my body doesn’t react to.
Anyways, today is our canoeing day. It’s freezing right now. Last night I even wore a turtle neck and wool sweater to the restaurant. MN is now very cold in the AM and PM. During the day it alternates between warm and cool. One of my tomato plants is dying and I haven’t figured out if it didn’t get enough water when I was gone, or if it’s a combination of cold nights and not enough water. I pulled about 10 tomatoes last night, gave the dogs 3.
I keep forgetting to mention that I have photos of my Oklahoma trip, but none of the Ouachita or Boston mountains. Oh wait, I have two of the Ouachita but they aren’t that great this time of year, I guess. The Boston Mountains were amazing, but no photos. I have a few of the Ancient Cherokee village that I will post, eventually. Okay, now that I mentioned that, back to.
I guess I should plan on making some spaghetti sauce with the rest of the tomatoes, or freeze them. I’ll have to look at my recipe book too to decide.
I’m also considering purchasing a new sewing machine. I don’t know though. Mine sews each stitch that I could possibly want—that I know how to use. A new machine, however, has all of these digital options—including push button start and stop to eliminate the pedal. But I like the foot pedal. New machines also have a speed lever. I can see a new seamstress enjoying that option, but the faster the better for me. After working on an industrial machine, you get used to and depend on a strong and super fast stitching. The only problem with industrial machines is that they have only 1 stitch. My machine has 20 and new digital home sewing machines have over 100 stitches!! Ooooo… * heart pounding * So, we’ll see. The Mumsy wants me to get a new one because she knows I love new technology, and she gets my old one that comes equipped with tons of feet that I have purchased over the years. Hahaha… It’s sort of emotional for me.
Interjection: I just had a flash of winter cross my minds-eye! Weird. I saw myself taking photographs of snowy scenes. Guess I’m getting ready for the winter months. LOL.
Okay, I’ll stop talking about sewing machines. I’d love to talk about them all day, however. I wish I had a buddy that I could go to the fabric store with and look at sewing machines with and share the excitement. Sigh. Okay, I should get off this thing now. Going canoeing. Canoe. Canoe. Canoe. Should be a good time. I’ve enjoyed it all thus far.

Hope you’re enjoying canoeing today. Re the questions about kids - such a personal question. People should know better, but it’s not nice to be rude w/ a “mind your own business” type response so I think my recent responses about the dogs being our babies is good enough. Let them think I’m a nut, LOL.
I’m enjoying my sewing, but I’m not so seriously into it that I’m even considering a new machine. My machine, a hand me down from my mom, has enough stitches for me and it has a foot pedal. I am wondering however, if it’ll have a problem with the multiple layers of fabric on my pillow cover project, but I didn’t have any probs w/ the ottoman cover and it’s the same fabric, etc. I might need to change the needle though. BTW, yes, the welting/piping requires the zipper foot. Re sewing forums - how about that pattern review site? Maybe you can learn of other sites through that site to get together with other sewing fans. I thought w/ that Project Runway (which I don’t watch) that sewing was having a rise in popularity. Hmmm.
I love mexican food which is not a good thing. Enjoy the canoeing and your time with Ed.
