New Month is Coming

Right away this morning I read that Microsoft was trying to buy Yahoo! but decided against it. Google has developed new software—Chrome—for ‘netbooks’ and one day hopes to market an operating system as a competitor of Microsoft. Google has 60% of the ad market. Makes Bill Gates a little upset, I guess. He’s going after Yahoo—that’s what the Bing thing is all about. Gates wants to dominate. He always wants to be the best. He always wants to OWN the best. Buying Yahoo! for 45 million? Hmmf. Whatever. Guess he settled on a deal that Yahoo! will use Bing for the engine, costing Micro$oft only 1 billion a year. I can’t grasp big money in my little brain. I see the principles easy enough though.

Anyways, it’s chilly here in the Twin Cities this morning. Despite that fact, I decided to get my jeans on and plug my laptop in on the screen porch. Well, there isn’t a screen yet, Ed’s in the middle of the project. Lol… but its still beautiful to sit outside with the birds singing and sip my coffee. The Goldfinches love their seed-socks and Lancelot loves to chase them away. And then I love to scold him. Haha…

I actually completed my entire list of things to do from yesterday and then more! I was able to paint my toenails and mend a hem in a tank-top I got at the drugstore—just a cheapy. I knew I would eventually have sew something. And I was able to go grocery shopping—strictly fresh fruits and veggies.

I worked in the yard most of the day and added a little more to my tomato garden. We had various goldstones, cement slabs and rocks lying around so displayed them around and made a path to walk on. My oregano is amazing! It’s flowering so beautifully. I decided to dig some of it up soon and transplant to my front corner garden. Purple flowers will look so nice. I also decided to set up my chimnea on the patio. When I was single, I bought the biggest chimnea I could find and it’s been in storage. I’m glad I bought it because I love that terracotta color in our backyard. We went canoeing last weekend so we didn’t set it up and get a fire going but this Sunday we’re going to have coffee and breakfast on the screen porch. :)

I did a little more work on my 5-finger project. I have 4 and need one more. I don’t know if these are talents, but they are in how I describe them about myself:

  1. intelligent—because I love learning and implementing what I’ve learned
  2. creative—because I love building, period
  3. accepting—because I like encouraging and understanding people, how they think, feel and live
  4. “systems”—because I enjoy making order from chaos, organizing etc.

I still need to think and pray about the last one.

I finally made a cucumber salad! We had it with dinner. Of course I made my very own version from several recipes I researched. Ed LOVED it, which pleases me. I like making stuff we both enjoy—especially if it’s healthy. I’ll eat the rest of that up for lunch.

Exercise is a walk with mom today. She’ll be coming over after I get off work. I’m thinking the route I want to go will be around 7 or 8 miles. I have a neighbor who enjoys going 16 miles at a time. That’s too much for me. That’s like 3 or 4 hours of walking for me. 4 miles takes me about an hour.

I checked out the Firm DVD line this morning and plan on making a purchase, but haven’t decided which one yet. I’m excited for it though. It feels nice to be excited for something healthy again.

  • Breakfast: 1 graham cracker, apple
  • Lunch: cucumber salad, thin slice of homemade bread with jam
  • Dinner: something with hamburger. Ed pulled it out of the freezer so I think he plans on grilling. :) What a nice sweetheart.
  • Snacks: orange, cheese stick, grape juice or sugar-free fruit juice from the health-food section
  • Liquids: I’m on my 5th or 6th cup of coffee this morning—it’s unusual for me. I’ll drink water that I filtered and put in the fridge yesterday. I’ll drink grapefruit flavored soda too—diet Squirt.

Okay, this is me signing off.

I own almost all of them, they are all good CHALLENGING workouts. The 500 Calorie Workout is long and tough and sometimes boring … I love the ones above because a 40 minute, quality workout is great to squeeze in. Cardio Overdrive is another great one.

I don’t own the Pump, Jump and Jab one - but I am ordering that one. I like kickboxing-y stuff.

Okay, done with that. I am glad to see that you have made progress on your talent fingers! I knew you could do it. It is so hard to see all the good qualities and talent you have yourself, but so easy for us others to see them. Most people are like this, I think? lol … I know I am. Anyway, great talents to have!

Diet Squirt … I don’t know if we have that in NY? I love grapefruit though, it sounds great!!

    Have a wonderful day Tawnya!

  2. Sounds like you had a nice day in the garden. Wow, another long walk for you. Someone has time for a 16 mile walk? Is it race-walking??

    Have a great day today.

  3. Google is the new evil overlord, dontcha know? :P I can’t say that too loudly around here though since not only are they right across the street from me, they own the building I work in! I would like to see Google’s OS.. can’t be any worse than Windows is sometimes.

Enjoy that coffee for me. I had to give it up 2 + years ago. Stupid stomach! I miss my morning mochas

Cucumber salads are the bomb. I agree. I love English cucmbers the best in them

  4. Tawnya - I inserted a link to the pattern into my entry (didn’t know if I could insert them into this comment).

  5. Aren’t cucumbers the best?! I absolutely adore them!!
Thanks for the book recommendation, I’ll definately check it out!
And, congrats on your success - you look great!
