5% in 1 Week!

Posted by: Hilary In: Weekly Weight In

I weighed in at my WW Meeting this morning at 231lbs.  That’s a 13.2lbs lose in 1 week.  The lady that was weighing me in said, “Ummm, can you get on the scale again. That can’t be right.”  She started to say that it wasn’t healthy to lose that much in a week but I quick told her that this wasn’t really my first week.  I had to explain that I have actually been doing WW for over a year, lost over 100lbs and then stopped for the last month and added a bunch of “junk weight” as I call it.  It always comes off very fast when I start counting points and working out again.  Plus TOM was around when I weighed in last week and that usually adds some weight.  Whatever, I got 2 - 5lbs stickers and a 5% sticker!!  YAY!!!

I did extremely well counting my points over the last week and plan to do it again this week.  I only worked out 2 times though, a 2 and 4 mile run.  It was my first week of training for my 25k.  I ran for the first time in the snow yesterday with Laura (my training buddy).  We did 4 miles and I dresses in 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pants, a tank top, short and long sleeve shirts and my running jacket and gloves.  It was actually kind of fun, in a sick way.  :)    We are looking at joining the local running club on their Saturday training run tomorrow.  Just waiting for them to email me back more info!  I really need to nail down a good training program and stick to it!!!

OK, I went a little overboard…

Over the last 4 weeks, I gained 24 pounds.  Holy Sh!t.. :(

SO, It’s a new year.  I’m pushing those last few weeks out of my mind.

Today is my 27th Birthday.  I joined Weight Watchers (for real this time, meetings and everything) and I’m training for the Fifth Third River Bank Run 25k in May.

Finally! :)

Total I hit 219.5!  Finally I’m in the 2 teens!!  That’s a 2lbs loss this week and since I was only at about 80%, I’ll take it.  I ate ok but not great and I only got to the gym 3 times.  New week, new start. I did the 30 day shred level 2 workout this morning instead of trudging in the snow to the gym.  So, off to a good start! :)

New Numbers :)

Posted by: Hilary In: Weekly Weight In

I lost 2.5lbs this week!  I’m finally in new numbers, 221.5!  Last week I did really good. The only day I didn’t count points was on Sunday at my Dad’s.  We had a “Thanksgiving-esk” dinner because we were with my Mom on the actual day.  I did well until the brownies came out, had a little too much.  I worked my ass out though and it obviously paid off.

I ran on the track at the YMCA this week.  48 freakin’ laps = 4 miles in 47:20.  I actually think this is going to be a help when I’m training for the 25k.  I want to run at about a 12-13 min/mile.  Since the track is 12 laps per mile, I try to keep myself running at about 60-65 sec lap and it worked pretty well.

Made it through Thanksgiving!

Posted by: Hilary In: Weekly Weight In

Thanksgiving was SOO good!  I started the day at the gym, bright and early at 8am.  Then it was grocery shopping, which I thought would be harder to do than it was but the store wasn’t that busy.  We had Thanksgiving dinner at my Mom’s house this year.  Food was AMAZING.  We had city chicken instead of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry and walnut salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, then pumpkin pie and apple pie!! Mmmmmm….  it was all delicious.  I had a decent serving of everything and went back for NO seconds.

I weighed in this week at 224, which is a 4lbs loss!  YAY!  Here’s to another week on plan! :)

This week has been going GREAT!  I’ve exercised everyday but Saturday and I’ve stuck to my points, even when we went to the movies.  Now I just have to been careful with my food choices at my Mom’s for Thanksgiving.

Laura and I ran 4 miles yesterday in 45 minutes.  It’s the first time I ran outside in a while and it felt really good.  We started talking about our plan to train for the 25k next May.  I didn’t get chosen for the Road Warrior team but I’m OK with that.  There were 100’s of entries and only 10 people got picked.  I’m just proud of myself for sending in my story.  I’ll try again next time.  Now I have to start thinking about how I am going to keep my running going during the winter.  Treadmill running long distances isn’t easy for me but since I live in Michigan, what are my other choices.  The track at my YMCA is small and you have to do 12 laps for a mile.  Really?!?  How do you keep track of that when you’re running 5 or 10 miles!?

Here’s to not gaining too many pounds tomorrow!  Have a great Thanksgiving Ladies!!

A Fresh Start!

Posted by: Hilary In: Weight Loss Goal

I have NOT been doing well with this “diet” in the last 3 months.  I looked in my weight book and saw that on 8/7/09 I hit the 220’s (229.5lbs) for the first time.  I weighed in at 228.5 last Friday.  That’s 1lb in 3 months and a week.  I spent 3 months and 1 week playing around in the 220’s…. that’s crazy.  I am ready for the 2 teens already!!!

I have been “secretly” eating.  Heather and I haven’t grocery shopped together in a while and I have bought things like donuts, cookies, chips, ice cream, ect. and eaten them before she gets home, buying things on my way to work or eating vast amounts of fast food.  I haven’t been exercising more than a day or so a week.  I feel like a big fat loser and I’m sick of it.  More than feeling like a loser, I am so embarrased to be telling people that I eat that much.  I never considered myself a binge eater until now.  Maybe I didn’t want the label but that’s what I’ve always been.  Ever since I could drive, I’ve been the girl who goes through a fast food drive through and orders enough for 2, only to eat all the food in my car, alone.  I don’t know how to break this “addiction”, if that’s what it is but I am ready to start.

Heather and I decided to make a couple challenges for ourselves.  We are both HUGE Twilight fans and want to go see New Moon but decided to make that a reward for losing 10lbs.  That will make me think twice before eating off plan or skipping the gym.  We also want to see The Blind Side.  For that one we decided to make a goal of going to the gym 20 times before we can see it.   I think this might work, better than a food reward, which is what we used to do.  Idiots…

November already?!

Posted by: Hilary In: Weight Loss Goal

I did day 3 of level 1 on Sunday morning before church.  Each time it gets a little easier (not!) but I do find myself able to do more of the moves without breaks.  I didn’t do the shred today, instead I did Jillian’s Boost Your Metabolism.  It was super hard, but it’s 50 mins long and I needed a longer workout.

Today I turned in my application to be a Road Warrior for the 25k race next year.

Here’s the explanation from the website - What is a road warrior? Join the Fifth Third River Bank Run reality team. The team consists of both veteran and novice runners who serve as ambassadors for the Fifth Third River Bank Run. They are also challenged to try new training methods, test new gear and participate in the 25K road race on Saturday, May 8, 2010.  Road Warriors are required to share their journey with the community by blogging on a weekly basis at www.53riverbankrun.com about their progress and how the challenges impacted their performance. Twenty (20) finalists will be selected for the interview portion of which 10 participants will ultimately be deemed as the 2010 Fifth Third River Bank Run Road Warriors!

Here’s what you win - The Road Warriors’ benefits will include a 25K entry, BROOKS running apparel, one pair of BROOKS running shoes, Road Warrior shirt, training kick off shirt, race day wicking shirt, three-month YMCA membership, runGazelle or Gazoom training program, analysis with Metro Health Sports Medicine, complimentary entries to other select races, nutrionalist access, complimentary outfit (provided by Gazelle Sports) for the fashion show on Friday, May 7, 2010, pasta dinner tickets, race day hospitality area and parking, and post race dinner.

Here’s what I wrote in as My Story - ( In 300 words or less, it was hard to cut it down to that ) I want to be a Fifth Third River Bank Run Road Warrior because:  I’m not the typical runner and that can be very motivating to others like me. For as long as I can remember I have been overweight. I’ve tried many different times and ways to lose weight but nothing ever worked. In September of 2008 I got on the scale at my heaviest, 327lbs. I realized that I was slowly killing myself. Something in me clicked and I joined the YMCA to start my new Life. I spent months walking on tread mils and using ellipticals while watching the scale. I wanted to set some goals for myself that weren’t based on my weight. I decided that I wanted to be a runner. I picked a 5k, registered and started training. I could barely run 60 seconds at a time but I didn’t care. The time it took me to finish the race wasn’t important. My goal was just to complete what I started. It wasn’t until my 3rd 5k race that I actually ran the entire distance. It was one of the best feelings I’ve experienced. I began to set my goals higher, was it possible I could run a 10k? Of course! I found a training buddy, figured out a training schedule and before I knew it, race day was here. Just 13 months after beginning my journey and after losing over 100lbs, I ran an entire 10k! The 327lbs woman from last year would never have dreamed it was possible. My next goal is to complete the 25k in May. If it’s possible to also encourage, motivate and show others like me that their goals are achievable, how can I not except the challenge to become a Road Warrior?

Keep your finger’s crossed because I think this would be an AWESOME experience!!

Day 2 went very well. I wasn’t as sore as I expected this morning, so that helped. I’m feeling it a bit now though….

Tonight we are renting movies and ordering pizza instead of going to my friend’s Halloween party because her 4 year old has H1N1. Poor guy can’t trick or treat, but is doing ok otherwise.

I lost 3lbs this week! About what I expected with TOM starting yesterday. I started my week off right with a workout, and not just any workout but Day 1 of my 30 Day Shred.

It went pretty good. I did level 1, obviously. The push ups and side lunge with lateral raises were the toughest part for me. I had to take a couple quick breaks in those sections. I was covered in sweat when I was done though, so I guess I didn’t rest too much.

I took pictures and measurements today and will post them on my 30 Day Shred page soon.

This week will be a little different because everything is in the air for me. I’m off of work after tomorrow because I have Jury Duty. So I may be busy all week and not able to get in many good workouts or I may be free all week and have to make sure I don’t eat everything I see if I get bored.
