My name is Nicole

I am 19

I started my diet on May 3rd, 2010 weighing 345 pounds

I hope to lose 200 pounds.

So far I lost 100 lbs by October 3rd, 2010.

I am in college, my major is International Studies, with minors in World Religions and Spanish.

I am losing weight to be healthy, and more able to travel to foreign countries and do the things that I would like to do and be comfortable doing them!

I work at a craft store

My weakness is bread!

My favorite food is… I don’t even remember.  I guess probably shrimp.  It’s been a while!

My least favorite food is tofu, unfortunately.

I am 5′10.

I am a vegetarian.

I love my friends and family more than anything.

For me this blog will be:

  1. Somewhere to write about the things that I have trouble talking about
  2. A reminder of why I am doing this when things get hard :)
  3. A journal to look back on when I reach my goal
I love reading, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns are excellent books.  Also Barefoot in Baghdad- Mideast culture fascinates me.  Same with African culture.  Really any world culture fascinates me.
I think I might be a bit of a bleeding heart, and I want to work with nonprofits for… ever.  I don’t focus on the things like making money.  I grew up in a kind of difficult home environment and I think that growing up I always thought, “remember there are kids who have it worse than you.”  And I’d always watch those feed the children commercials and cry — even at a young age — which I still do.  I guess my biggest reason for losing this weight is to be able to go to the foreign countries and really get hands-on with nonprofit organizations that help the people who need it.  I wouldn’t be able to do that now, or at my most obese because I wasn’t — and am still not — comfortable with myself enough to step out of my box and do new, exciting things.  On my own.
I think I may show my friends and family this blog once I reach my goal weight, idk idk :) we will see!
