This week’s theme is peace.  Over the last few years I have let myself procrastinate on everything.  Things break or leak or fall apart in my home, and I just try not to think about it.  “I’m too busy to deal with this right now.”  The truth is that its just an excuse to not do anything other than what I want to do.  But as those things accumulate, it weighs me down.  I enjoy my life a little less the more I put things off.

I realized recently that I want to feel at peace more often.  So now, I am 100% focused on getting caught up on all the things that mentally and emotionally bog me down.  Just merely making the commitment and starting to make tiny strides toward achieving this has taken a huge weight off of me.  I can only imagine how it will feel when I really am caught up.

I won a box of 30 FREE donuts last week.  I have been on a serious donut bender, and in general consuming WAY too many calories.  They were FREE in terms of the price, but its costing me in other ways!.  I need an intervention, people!!!!!

I am not happy about the numbers on the scale this week.  I tried really hard to cut back on my snacking.  I  think I need to up my exercise and veg intake.  We’ll see how I do next week!

You may recall from my last post, I flew to NY last Sunday and was there until Thursday night.  I went for work.  It was a grueling 5 days, but so worth the trip.  These last few days after returning have led to some contemplation and realizations about the future that I hope will bring positive changes to my life.

#1 - I’m going to see major changes in my job soon.  Some good, some bad.  The good will allow me to tolerate the bad.  The bottom line is, I foresee an improved work/life balance in my future and that is GOOD!

#2 - I really need to STOP snacking.  This week I ate huge meals.  HUGE breakfasts, lunches and dinners.  One day for breakfast I ate oatmeal, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and pineapple.  Not kidding.  But each day I still stayed within a reasonable calorie range because I didn’t snack at all (I didn’t have time, and I didn’t have any snacks available).  Most normal days my snacks add up to more calories than my meals, and that is a big problem.  I definitely need to figure out how to change this.

#3 - I need to make some changes at home.  I need help with numerous projects and things I’ve been postponing because it will bring me out of my comfort zone (having strangers in my home, paying people to do things I prefer to do myself, trusting the quality of work they will provide…).  But, the need to have these projects get done will not go away, and I need to stop procrastinating.

I am in NY this week for work.  We’ll see how I do with my eating.  My NY coworkers are notoriously insensitive to my dietary issues.  Like last time, I told them I needed something gluten and dairy free, and they got me a vegetarian sandwich with cheese. Add to that, the hotel options are terrible and I’m in an area in Long Island where there are NO other options.

So I end up eating vending machine food usually.  Wish me luck!

I have been living on a few batches of home made soup and chili this last 1-2 weeks.  I don’t know what it is about home made soup, but its one of my favorite things ever.  I wish I had pics, but hubby borrowed my camera for a few days.
