Progress Report 1/31/2010

PROGRESS REPORT

Starting weight (7/5/2009):            212.8

Last week’s weight (1/24/2010):    177.8

This week’s weight (1/31/2010):    176.2

This week’s weight loss / gain:       Loss 1.6 pounds

Total weight loss:                            Lost 36.6 pounds

Still working towards that next milestone goal: 172.8 (Once I reach 172.8 I will have lost 40 pounds!!).  My “reward” will be a full day at the spa (my favorite spa - Lafayette Park Hotel).

Judging by my weight loss plateau, it looks like I’m eating too much still. I will readily admit that I really have been eating nonstop, especially at night after work.  I need to reign that in. I figured I’d be in the 173-174 range by now, considering much of January I hovered around the 175 area.

I have finally decided that I am ready to take my fitness goals to the next level. I joined the Renaissance ClubSport in Walnut Creek, CA.  I’ve never really been a gym person.  I take walks every morning on the treadmill, and I enjoy outdoor walking as well.  I figured as long as I have comfortable shoes I never have a reason not to work out.  But, walking takes a toll on my feet (plantar fasciitis) and it gets boring after a while.  I tried running, but that is not realistic right now.

So, I joined the gym to take classes (yoga, spin, barre) and to use the swimming pool (the best part!).  I used to swim a few days a week when I was in my early 20s.  But its been over 13 years since I did it on a regular basis.  I’ll tell you, there is no better feeling than being in the pool.  I am such a novice swimmer, but its like nothing else in the world.

I joined on Wednesday the 27th, and so far I have used the pool 3 times.  I swam 1000 meters yesterday and probably about 1300 today.  I promised myself that if I stick with it for a month, I’ll buy myself an under water MP3 player and get a lap counting watch.

This week’s weight loss / gain:      Gain 2.4 pounds

Total weight loss:                           Lost 35 pounds

Next Milestone Goal: 172.8 (Once I reach 172.8 I will have lost 40 pounds!!)

This week’s number is super disappointing.  I was really hoping to hit my 40 lb goal this month.  I feel like I’ve been in the high 170s for soooo long!!

Last week’s weight (12/27/2009):      179.4

This week’s weight (1/03/2010):        179.6

This week’s weight loss / gain:           Gain 0.2 pounds

Total weight loss:                                Lost 33.2 pounds

Milestone Goal for December [Four (4) pound weight loss (176 goal weight for 12/31)]:  Not achieved :-(

I’m bummed out that I didn’t get to my weight loss goal for December (mere 4 lbs), especially because I got so close (176.4) mid-month.  But, I closed out the month with a net loss, even if it was only 0.4 lbs.  In previous years I would have gained 5-10 pounds between November and January, so I should and do feel good about this.

Even so, I don’t want that to make me complacent for the month of January.  So, I’m back and have high hopes for January!

I am STILL sick with a cold-flu-bug.  I’m really sick of being sick because it has affected my ability to work out and I feel like I eat a LOT more when I’m sick.  Plus, I just want to enjoy all this free time off of work with my hubs!

This week’s weight loss / gain:               Gain 1.8 pounds

Total weight loss:                                    Lost 33.4 pounds

Next Milestone: Four pound weight loss in December ~ 176 goal weight for 12/31 {ha, highly unlikely at this point}

Today I am sick with a cold-flu-bug.  When I’m sick, I get all kinds of urges to emotionally overeat.  Yesterday (last night specifically) was scary and today I’m trying to reign it in.

I don’t have a problem with eating for emotional and physical comfort per se, especially when warranted by actual illness, but recently I have had too many days of overeating.  I just need to stop and get back to normal to know that I can.

This week’s weight (11/29/2009):       180.8

This week’s weight loss / gain:            Loss 1.8 pounds

Total weight loss:                                 Lost 32 pounds

Miracles do happen!  With multiple 3000+ calorie days I still managed to lose weight.  I hope to keep it up. Meanwhile, its back to work!

This week’s weight (11/22/2009):       182.6

This week’s weight loss / gain:            Gain 0.8 pounds (darn PMS!!)

Total weight loss:                                 Lost 30.2 pounds

I have had PMS for like six days now.  I don’t know how many more days of this I can handle.

More importantly, I have had some very “off” days recently, and its to the point where instead of having a couple slips a month its more like a couple slips a week.

This week’s focus will be to reflect on:

  • What are my goals? What goals am I neglecting?
  • How did I get to where I am? How do I want to get to where I am going?
  • What areas of my life are out of balance?

And of course I’ll also be reminding myself of all those things I’m thankful for.  A few:  great husband, good health, 2 cute kitties, wonderful family and friends, a job I love and a home to keep me safe and warm.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.  I’m heading to Oregon to visit family.  How about you?

This week’s weight loss / gain:               Loss 1.8 pounds

Total weight loss:                                    25 pounds

I am very happy to see that I’ve lost most of the vacation weight, but I’m still hovering around the 187-188 mark, where I’ve been for over 3 weeks.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed to see some more downward movement this next week!
