A glass of whine

The Wine Tasting Dinner was enjoyable last night. About 100 of us women were seated in a nice banquet area, and man, was it loud and got progressively louder as the night went on. Four courses, each with a different glass of wine were served, and everything was delicious. (Sunnie, I drank every drop ~ [...]

Art courtesy Sistah Pat

Ooops! You’ll have to use your imagination, chickies! This little blue square with a question mark is really a kwel piece of art.  Dang, Patty, I spent a lot of time playing on that Wordle site! Couldn’t figure out how to put it in here, so I opened “Grab”, then copied that screen onto here. [...]

Mindful Eating

Back to writing down what I eat and drinking lots of water. I dug out poor George Foreman (the Lean, Mean Grilling Machine) who was languishing on a back shelf, and grilled up tuna steaks last night. Yum! I could eat tuna steaks for five days straight ~ mercury poisoning be damned!
So what’s up with [...]

1300 calories

… and hours ’til bedtime. Ya-all are inspiring me, chickies! Trying on last summer’s shorts kinda helped too. They are causing the dreaded “ring-O-pain” and some chunky love handle action. I refuse to buy a larger size, so there’s only one other option. Move to Alaska.
Something happened to my knees over the winter ~ there’s [...]

Flowery words

Last year I couldn’t find any Zinnia seeds when I finally got around to gardening and I missed them dearly. Such colorful flowers and they make long-lasting bouquets. Yesterday I planted three packets of them, along with some sunflowers. Today I will plant the Morning Glory seeds and keep my fingers crossed. Morning Glories: my [...]

Here we H2O again

I’ve started drinking water again ~ supplemented by wine, you understand. I jumped off the water wagon a few months ago when I researched ‘water and dieting’ and found the new thought seems to be “water is fine, drink your water but it won’t help you lose weight.” In retrospect, I’ve found in my own [...]

big bling~bling

DH and I went looking at slabs of granite for kitchen counter tops. Amazing. What is buried under the earth is truely breath-taking. Poking around in a ‘big box’ home store is nothing like seeing huge 12′x 8′ polished granite slabs. It’s like looking at jewelry. Biiiiig jewelry.
Pictures do not do the stones justice, for when [...]

TGIM

Sometimes Mondays are just what I need ~ back to the good old routine.
DH’s team placed third in the state, and what long faces they had! The first & second placed teams get to go on to world competition and for these last four years DS’s team has always juuuuust missed it. The “World’s” is [...]

with Fear & Trepidation

Our schools three teams are competing at the state level this weekend for Odyssey of the Mind. The kids are so excited! My excitement is tempered by the particular hotel that one of the moms booked for us all. Can’t stay somewhere else ~ all booked and the teams have to be together. It’s a Quality Inn [...]

A Glorious Easter Morn’

Happy Easter! Was glad to see the sun this morning: of all the days, I think Easter should be bright and sunny.
No Easter Baskets this year, nor Egg Hunts, alas. All the chillens is grown up. The Easter Bunny did leave an X-Box game for my son, and when he had three buds for an [...]
