Penguin Dance

Next week, not only is it back to school time for Son; it’s back to work time for me. During the summer, I am lucky enough to only work a day or two a week ~ benefits of sleeping with the owner .
Aside note: DH & I have a restaurant, so I’m allowed to [...]

Googly-Eyes

Took Son to get fitted for contact lenses today. It went well at the office; he pops ‘em in quick ~ its the taking ‘em out part that was a little tough for him & has me secretly worried for tonight! As I watched him getting instructions on insertion & removal, I realized that I [...]

I (heart) Eggbeaters

I’m on an Eggbeaters for breakfast kick. Nuke some salsa in the micro and pour over my EB omelet ~ its all good. Breakfast is easy for me: so many choices that I enjoy. Its the diners that are hard when I’m cooking for the family. Noses are usually turned up at tossed salads with [...]

(regarding previous post)
Patty writes: I can’t believe you’re noticing “turkey” neck! I’ve been fretting over it for a couple of months. Look at my pictures! What’s happening to my neck??? It seems like all the weight I lose is making my face and neck look gross!
I’ve been wrestling with this for a while…At what point [...]

Mundane Post

Bought some more “Vitamuffins”: ummm good! Quick, easy bre-fess. Made waffles for the boys and remembered why I don’t do it more often. How do you properly clean a waffle maker if you can’t submerge it? I have a dinky little 4-square waffle maker, nothing as grand as my Mom’s. Now THAT was a waffle [...]

Fry-day

Took son and a friend of his to tour his newly renovated school. We were impressed. Big, airy hallways, new furniture, floors as shiny as mirrors. We ALL agreed it will be great getting back to school! We peeked into the big empty auditorium and son immediately kicked off his flip-flops and ran down the [...]

Cheeseburger Pie and other flops

Son has a bud staying overnight tonite, and I had what I thought was a brainstorm for What To Make For Dinner. When I was a kid, my Mom used to make Cheeseburger Pie, and us kids woofed it down with gusto. My Mom has since passed but I have her old recipe file. It’s [...]

Oh yay…

So sayeth the internet docs:
“What Are the Signs of Perimenopause?
You will know you are transitioning into menopause when you begin experiencing some or all of the following symptoms:
Hot flashes
Breast tenderness
Worsening of premenstrual syndrome
Decreased libido (sex drive)
Fatigue
Irregular periods
Vaginal dryness; discomfort during sex
Urine leakage when coughing or sneezing
Urinary urgency (a pressing need to urinate more frequently)
Mood swings
Difficulty sleeping”
Oh yay.
Seeing that I [...]

At least he could call, for cryin’ out loud.

I’ve made his bed up fresh, put out clean towels and a couple of new magazines on the bed side table and still no TOM. Either he’s very late or he is not visiting this month ~ a first! I’m sure wasting a lot of welcome mats waiting for him. “POP!” Nope, no TOM.
I’ve sure [...]

Cooking Heavy

Baked a loaf of banana bread to give to a friend this morning. I use a wonderful recipe from “Cooking Light” magazine, and do a ‘Susan Tweek’ on it, by replacing all the light ingredients with, well, heavy ones. Two whole eggs instead of egg whites, full-fat sour cream, milk & butter. And no wonder [...]
