Green Smoothies

Affectionately called “Green Monsters” by some chickees, these smoothies are meant to be a way of getting more green vegetables in our diets.

Green can mean lettuce, kale, spinach, collards. Some people get adventurous and use carrot and radish tops.I guess parsley and celery too!

The smoothies need a base, which apparently keeps the mixture from separating. I’ve heard that bananas, pears, “milks” (dairy or non-dairy), nuts and avocados work well.

All sorts of things can be mixed in, including fruit, chocolate, peanut butter…It really can be quite an adventure!

My goal is to drink one every day, not so green so that I don’t like it, but a bit because it would be more than I’d have eaten anyway. Mostly fruit based, I’ll share my experiments with you!
