Yeah - it is the weekend!

Not much planned except helping DD pack for volleyball camp (sniff, sniff) she’ll be gone until Thurs. and maybe take DS to see Harry Potter - DD already went with her friends.  Oh yeah.. going to work out in a little bit.

Thurs CB: 2531; CC: 1474 (Deficit 1057)  I did about 20m of the 10 Days Results Lower Body in the AM and a 30m treadmill walk (2.4 - 3.0 mph) while watching Weeds.

Fri CB: 2130; CC 1983 (Deficit 147) No exercise.   I definitely need exercise most days or my calorie burn is pretty pitiful.  Yesterday was a carb fest - I’ve been craving them for two weeks and had a grand time yesterday; bagel for breakfast and pizza for dinner.   I should have a rockin’ workout this AM.  Ha!

Well, I’ve had my banana & choc PB2 protein shake and a cup of coffee.  Time to get to work!

235.0 Bloat City. The good news is that in a week I should be down 2 pounds since I’m retaining a lot water this cycle - which will be cool. Cankles are so unattractive…

7/14 deficit was 918 (2386b, 1468c); I did Results to Fitness upper body - which I thought would burn more calories, but was decent workout. Shred light I’d say.
7/15 deficit was 685 (2168b, 1483c); no exercise. I tried to keep moving during the day, but I commuted with DH so skipped my two long walks to my car.

We’re gearing up for vacation next week. I really don’t want to backslide so am planning to wear my Bugg and track calories while we are there. My family is going — my Sis can be kind of obnoxious about my weight loss attempts but I’ll just have to ignore her. I’m really determined to do this.

235.2 this AM. My ring is tight on my finger so I think it is extra fluid from TTOM. I also ate too much this weekend. Bleh. I was surprised to see it has been 3 days since I blogged. Gotta keep an eye on that.

Sat Calories burned 2543, Calories Consumed 2306. Deficit 237 Steps 8590, Activity 1 hr

I had a soft pretzel and a salad at Chipotle when out shopping w/ DD. I now know.. do not eat at Chipotle. I thought I was being ‘good’ and it calculated at 700cal when I used an online calc — who knows how accurate that was. We then went to the movies at 8P, which we never do and stopped at Wendy’s on the way home. I got a grilled chix sandwich and didnt’ eat most of the bread. Definitely not a normal eating day for me (well, when dieting).
Exercise was Pull premix + 30mix steady treadmill walking. I walked pretty slow while listening to Leigh’s podcast… suprisingly enjoyable workout. Usually I can only stay on the treadmill for 15m before wanting to hurl myself off..but I tend to do intervals, etc.

Tried to overcompensate for the day before and didn’t eat a good bkfast before working out — TurboKick 30. Got my energy level out of whack and felt really tired the rest of the day. Luckily I had some errands to do, so kept moving until 6P and then fell into a coma. DH had to bring my dinner to me on the couch.

Went over my target calories again (1600) I’m trying to balance dieting with not becoming obsessed.. but I’ll have to give into the process and plan everything that goes into my mouth ahead of time and stick with the plan. Hopefully recording my thoughts will help keep me from freaking out like I usually do. I slept in yesterday but went for a nice walk at lunch. I didn’t have on my watch so lost track of the time - I think it was about 45m. It was a beautiful day.

Calories Burned - 2583; Calories Consumed 1660 (23p, 48c, 29f) 923 deficit.   7969 steps , 71 minutes activity.

Exercise:  I did Debra Mazda’s Lets Get Moving 2 DVD - it is a cardio toning w/o with “Shapely Girls”.  Probably the first time I’ve hit the 45m mark exercising since my meltdown in June.  It felt good and the workout wasn’t too hard so in line with my loose program guidelines.

She’s coming out with an hour long walking w/o that I’ll probably pickup — guess I might as well go ahead and get her step workout too :)

Yesterday was very stressful — I manage a system that has 3000 users and it was acting funky.   Worked from 7:30AM to 9P.  Not sure why I’m up now.   I had to skip lunch — had a pack of peanut crackers from the vending machine (I felt virtuous for not getting peanut M&Ms).

I had to have a protein shake before going to bed because I was starving; got up this AM and was still starving so I made protein pancakes (1/2 ripe banana, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 2 eggs (or egg whites), 1/2 cup oatmeal (though i was out so used a whole grain packet). Mix in a blender and use like pancake batter.  Yummy.

This week a lot of old feelings are coming up for me — the root of why I’ve struggled with my weight all these years.  So, I’m putting this out into the universe.  My father used to weigh me each week when I was 12 up until about 10th grade when I refused to do it anymore.  I used to starve myself to make weight each week (some chart he had of what a healthy weight range should be)   I did crazy things like freeze OJ and eat the cubes for bkfast because they lasted longer.   1/2 sandwich for lunch.   Veggies for dinner.  No wonder I never wanted to do any sports — I probably didn’t have the energy.   It sucked, but my Dad was trying to avoid me being overweight like him.  Big FAIL!     Anyway, anytime I get hungry, really hungry then I start panicking.   I think I’ve gotten in the habit of always eating enough to keep from having that feeling.   Now that my tank is empty, I’m starving on a regular basis.   Now that I’m 45, I think I’m old enough to recognize these feelings for what they are and deal with them.    For now though, I’m going to try to get upping my protein to avoid being so hungry.

Calories Burned - 2319, Calories Consumed 1705.  That was a little bit more than usual because I had a unplanned handful of trail mix yesterday afternoon.  I also woke up at 12:30 because I was hungry.  At 1 I gave in and got something to eat.   I’m hungry now.  My body is trying to ‘find the feed’ I think.  I’ll have to be super diligent about staying on track because I’m going to do this!

So much crap going on at work.  I felt the need to destress so I did some yoga yesterday AM

Athlete’s Guide to Yoga:  Shoulder Stretch & Hamstring Strap Series + Restorative Poses.   This was such a great combo — especially needed it because my shoulder was a little cranky from hoisting the barbell the other day.

I also took a quick 15 m walk yesterday — there is a path behind our bldg that goes through a little wooded area — I didn’t do it often because it is a steep incline to get there and it used to bother my knee.  No problems yesterday.  Got my nice burn in a short time I think.

233 today — I don’t think I’ve been this weight in 3 years.  Wow. Love you Leigh Peele!!

I had a busy day and didn’t update my food log yet, though I kept track of everything on my palm.  Calories burned were 2311.   I was planning to go for my walk last night but I didn’t get home from work until 7:30 and opted to sit on my butt instead.  5182 steps, 34m activity.  I’m tempted to try and up my activity levels but I’m losing at such a mysteriously fast pace without feeling like crap that I won’t toy with anything for now.  One thing that is off is my sleep — only got 5.5 hrs last night.

I had a kickbutt workout yesterday.   The short but moderately intense strength workouts are really agreeing with me.

Exercise:  Cathe’s Step Blast w/u + Push Pull (push premix)

Barbell Squats - 40 lb barbell which my left shoulder didn’t like
Static lunge- heel lifted 10 lbs (no heel lift)
Leg Press- 10″ no weight.  My right knee is still weaker so I have to stay at this ht until it feels ‘normal’
Bench press on ball (did mine on bench) 15 lb dumbbells
Flys on ball  - 15 lbs
Inverted shoulder press -high step — yeah.. this wasn’t happening.  I did shoulder press instead with 8lb dumbbells.  Should have used 12 maybe
Front raise on ball - 8 lbs should have used 12
Slow Tricep Dips/immediately to kickbacks (tricep) 8 lbs, should have used 6
Full Body Stretch

Off to do some yoga.. feeling a little stiff today from yesterday’s workout.  I WILL walk at lunch today!

234 This AM!  :)  This is so mysterious how my weight has been dropping every day this week.  The only thing I’ve really changed is having a protein shake before my workout rather than the vitalicious muffin top.  Cool.

Sleep - only got 5 hrs last night.  Was up until 10p watching Secret Life of Bees, then woke up at 3;30 because I was so hungry.  I’ll probably be tired later today.   I’ll try taking a walk at slump time to help with that.

That was the sound of me getting on/off my scale this AM.   I’m 234.8!   I guess I’m winning against my body.  I actually don’t feel as draggy anymore.  Of course I sat on my butt until 8P working.. I’ll make up for it today.

Calories burned:  2195, Calories consumed: 1869 Deficit 325.  Steps 4196, Activity 23m. 

I had some avocado on my turkey wrap yesterday.  Since I forgot to measure it I erred high I think.  I also had a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich last night.   I’d cut those out the past couple of weeks.

Exercise: Whee!  Cathe’s Step Jump Pump warmup + Supersets Round 2.  Fun and sweaty times had by all.

Round Two, Group A
dumbell one leg squat - 10 lbs
dumbbell seated overhead press 2x 10 lbs
barbell preacher curls on the stability ball (used 2 x 10 dumbbells)
dumbbell extensions on the stability ball  2 x 8 lbs (should have used 10)
Core bike maneuver (i hate these with a passion)

Round Two, Group B:
explosive lunges (no exploding for me.. I kept mine grounded)
dumbbell rear and front delt raises prone on stability ball 3 lbs
dumbbell concentration curls on the stability ball 2 x 10 lbs
seesaw tricep push ups on ball   (can’t believe I did these)

Monday AM Weight 236.2 - guess I was bloated from Friday’s pizza.   I feel pretty peppy this AM.  Must be the extra 500 calories I had yesterday.   Maybe I should shoot for a deficit of 750 and see how that goes.  I had about 300 calories of unplanned junk :( .   Saw my brother yesterday who said I was getting slim.  That made me happy.   It is the weight training that I picked up, because I only lost about 10 lbs since he last saw me.

Exercise - Steps 5675 ; Did some yoga and 20m of a walk before I decided I was tired; did more yoga.

Getting ready to do some resistance work.  I’m working at home today which means my step count will be down.  I’ll plan to take a walk this PM (maybe I’ll even go outside - gasp!)
